Definition of Personal Leave. Personal leave is an absence from work for which the employee is paid just as if he/she was at work. Personal Leave is provided primarily to provide income protection for the employee whose personal illness or incapacity is such that they are not able to work, but they have not yet met the required waiting period to qualify for the Short Term Disability plan.
