Sick/Personal Leave. 17.1 Absence by teachers shall be governed by the provisions of this article. 17.1.1 All full-time teachers shall be granted 10 days leave per school year. All 10 days may be taken as sick leave. During each school year a maximum of four (4) leave days may be used for business that cannot be taken care of during the normal school day or for attendance at conferences or workshops. 17.1.1.1 A part-time teacher shall be granted sick/personal leave days on a pro-rata basis based upon the part-time teacher's contractual services as it relates to a full-time teacher's contractual service. For purposes of this article only, a part-time teacher shall mean a teacher who has less than a full-time assignment. 17.1.2 At the end of each school year, all unused leave days transfer to the next year as sick days. Unused sick leave may be accrued to a maximum of 150 days. 17.1.3 An employee shall be credited with a full leave allowance at the beginning of the school year. In the event that a contract is terminated prior to the termination date stated thereon and the employee has used more days than he/she has accrued, a daily pro rata reduction will be made on the final paycheck of the employee. 17.1.4 Employees on any type of leave covered in other Articles of this Agreement shall neither accumulate nor lose leave. Upon returning to duty, the employee will begin with the total accumulated leave accrued at the time when the leave commenced. 17.1.5 An employee who anticipates an extended absence from the job for reasons of maternity, elective surgery or other medical problems shall notify the Personnel Office as soon as such absence can reasonably be anticipated. 17.1.6 Employees who retire from the District under favorable conditions (i.e., under conditions other than discharge or constructive discharge), after 20 years of experience within the District, will be compensated at the rate of one hundred percent (100%) of the regular substitute teacher rate in effect on the employee's date of retirement for all unused sick leave. 17.1.7 Up to 30 days of leave may be used for Maternity, Paternity or Adoption reasons. The employee must notify Human Resources when such leave begins. 17.1.8 Any teacher using leave for an extended period of illness or under any circumstances where there is a factual basis to support that the provisions of this Article are being abused may, at the Board's expense, be required by the Board to provide a medical statement or to submit to a medical exam...

Sick/Personal Leave. Sick day allowance is to be used for absences due to personal illness or serious illness in the immediate family. The immediate family shall include: grandmother, grandfather, father, mother, brother, sister, wife, husband, children and legal dependents.
Sick/Personal Leave. Earned sick leave may be used when it is necessary to miss work because of an employee's illness, doctor and/or dentist appointment, funeral attendance, and/or for the care of an employee's sick parent, spouse or minor child where the employee's attendance is essential for their parent's, minor child's or spouse's care. New employees for the first six (6) months of employment, cannot use sick days, but will be credited with the appropriate number of days if they complete six (6) months of employment. B. When an employee MUST miss work for doctor/dentist appointments, the employee must give the department head one (1) day advance notice. C. An employee who finds it necessary to use sick time for an accident or illness must contact Central Dispatch and notify the on-duty supervisor, shift leader, or acting shift leader not later than one (1) hour before the start of their scheduled shift. The Director may order employees failing to provide one (1) hour advance notice of use of sick time to provide a physician’s verification of injury or illness. D. Upon death, fifty percent (50%) of accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of seventy-two (72) days pay will be paid to the employee’s estate, based upon the employee's current salary.

Sick/Personal Leave. (a) I Each employee shall earn sick / personal leave at the rate of .6 day per month to a maximum of six (6) days per year. A year shall mean September 1st – June 30th. II A month of service is one which the Employee works ten (10) days or more, otherwise there is no earned entitlement. For greater clarity no sick/personal leave is earned for a month in which an employee works less than ten days. III For the purpose of this article days on which an employee receives pay in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement shall count as a day of work. (b) A maximum of three (3) days of unused entitlement may be carried forward to the following year. (c) On the first (1st) pay in June of each year any unused entitlement not carried forward pursuant to (b) above will be paid out to the employee. (d) Sick / Personal Leave is defined as (I) illness or medical appointments of the employee, member of the Employee’s immediate family, or (II) an emergency matter at the Employee’s home that requires the employee’s attention.
Sick/Personal Leave. Effective April 1, 2008, part-time employees on the seniority list on the date of ratification of this Agreement and all full-time employees shall accumulate five (5) sick/personal leave days per year. Compensation for sick/personal leave will be based on the hourly shift the employee is working at the time of the absence, not to exceed forty (40) hours for each contract year.
Sick/Personal Leave. 24.01 Pay for personal leave is for the sole and only purpose of protecting employees against loss of income when they are legitimately ill or requiring time off for personal reasons such as, but not limited to, elder or childcare, medical appointments, family events, or unexpected crises. Personal leave taken for reasons other than illness can be scheduled a maximum thirty (30) days in advance and no more than two (2) consecutive days can be used at a time. Scheduled use of personal days for reasons other than illness must be mutually agreeable to the Company. Personal days cannot be used December 24th, 25th, or 26th. 24.02 Full-time employees who have been in the employ of the Company for less than one (1) continuous year shall earn, beginning with the fourth (4th) month of employment, one (1) paid personal day per month during the first calendar year of employment. 24.03 Full-time employees who have been in the employ of the Company for one (1) continuous year or more as of January 1st each year shall receive an advance of five (5) personal days as of January 1st each year and shall earn one (1) paid personal day per month, up to a maximum of ten (10) paid personal days per year.
