Consequently, this policy has been prepared to assure the security and confidentiality of your treatment and to assure that it is consistent with ethics and the law. As part of this consent, you are agreeing to allow Good Life Center for Mental Health, LLC staff to contact you using email, text messaging and secure messaging as described below. When you consent to communicating with us by email or text, you are consenting to communications that may not be encrypted. Therefore, you are agreeing to accept the risk that your protected health information may be intercepted by persons not authorized to receive such information. Good Life Center for Mental Health, LLC will not be responsible for any privacy or security breaches that may occur through voicemail, email or text communications that you have consented to. Email is typically not a secure way of communicating confidential information; therefore, Good Life Center for Mental Health, LLC therapists will typically only use email to communicate administrative information (e.g., setting and changing appointments, billing matters and other related issues, meeting information/links, etc.) with clients unless specifically requested by clients. Good Life Center for Mental Health, LLC also offers secure one-way session reminders and portal notifications through email. If you need to discuss a clinical matter, please feel free to call your therapist so you can discuss it on the phone or wait to discuss it during your therapy session. The telephone or face-to-face context simply is much more secure as a mode of communication. Please let your therapist know if you are uncomfortable with receiving email communications from our staff, as you have a right to opt out of this form of communication.

All electronic communication between coach and player must be for communicating information about team activities. Coaches, players and all team personnel must follow common sense guidelines regarding the volume and time of day of any allowed electronic communication. All content between coaches and players should be readily available to share with the public or families of the player or coach. If the player is under the age of 18, any email, text, social media, or similar communication must also copy or include the player’s parents. Social media makes it easy to share ideas and experiences. GBAYHA and USA Hockey recognize, however, that social media, mobile and other electronic communications can be especially concerning where minor participants are involved. Coaches are prohibited from having players joined to or connected through their personal Facebook page or any other similar social media application. To facilitate communication, an official organization or team page may be set up and players and parents may join (i.e., “friend”) the official organization or team page and coaches can communicate to players though that site. All electronic communication of any kind between coach and player, including use of social media, must be non-personal in nature and be for communicating information about team activities or for team oriented motivational purposes.
