Extended Bereavement Leave. Where an Officer is entitled to bereavement leave pursuant to Section 19.1 above, and where death occurs and the funeral is to be held out of Illinois and beyond the states contiguous thereto, the Officer shall be entitled to a maximum of five consecutive days. For purposes of this Section, those states contiguous to the State of Illinois are: Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.

Extended Bereavement Leave. An employee may use accumulated vacation leave credits and/or personal leave credits to extend a bereavement leave. The Chief of Police will have total discretion in the approval of an employee’s extended bereavement leave.
Extended Bereavement Leave. A deputy may use accumulated annual leave or sick leave, as necessary and as approved by the Prosecuting Attorney ─ (a) to take further time away from work due to bereavement, or (b) to settle the estate and the legal affairs of a deceased related to the Deputy.

Should a death or burial in the immediate family occur in a city located more than one hundred fifty (150) miles from Delphos, and additional two (2) days for travel, which must occur in the same work week as the leave shall be granted and paid.

Extended Bereavement Leave. In the case of death in an employee’s immediate family, an extended leave of absence may be granted on the merits of each individual case, through the CEO/Chief Librarian’s office, either by the CEO/Chief Librarian or the Personnel Committee of the Board. For the purpose of the above, common-law and step relationships shall be recognized.
