Filling Temporary Vacancy. A temporary vacancy shall be filled for ten (10) working days from the list of available substitute drivers. After the initial ten (10) day period, the vacancy shall be filled by the most senior substitute desiring the vacancy, who shall then remain in the position until the regular driver returns. The substitute shall enjoy the status of a full time driver except that they shall receive only those benefits granted to a substitute driver under the Labor Agreement.

Filling Temporary Vacancy. The staff recognizes that when permanent vacancies occur during the school year, it may be difficult to fill the existing instructional program from applicants within the school system without undue disruption to the existing instructional program. If the Superintendent determines that the permanent vacancy should be filled on a temporary basis until the end of the current school year, he/she may do so. At the end of the school year the vacancy would become a permanent vacancy, if the position remains.
Filling Temporary Vacancy. In the event of a temporary vacancy, Unsigned Spare Board operators will be eligible to fill the vacancy according to their seniority. Operators will be contacted and the vacancy will be filled within three (3) working days. The operator accepting the vacancy will be entitled to hold the run on a weekly basis until the next regular two week sign up, unless the absentee operator returns to work. If no one accepts, the least senior Unsigned Spare Board operator will be assigned this work until the next two week sign up.

If the vacancy is active for a second week, before the two week sheet is posted, it will be offered to the most senior spare board Operator on that week, provided said Operator is Unsigned Spare for the week, unless the absentee Operator returns to work. If no one accepts, the least senior Unsigned Spare Board Operator shall be assigned the work until the next two week sign-up.

  • Temporary Vacancies The Company and the Union recognize that temporary employees may be required to temporarily provide additional manpower due to vacation, weekly indemnity, excess of work, etc. All temporary employees performing bargaining unit work are members of the bargaining unit and as such all terms and conditions of the collective agreement apply except as herein provided. Individuals may be hired to fill temporary vacancies. Temporary vacancies and employees shall last a maximum of eight (8) calendar weeks. This does not prevent the Company and the Union from mutually agreeing to extend the eight (8) week limitation on an individual basis. Overtime will only be offered to temporary employees after all qualified senior and probationary employees within the classification concerned have refused. Public holidays will be paid to the temporary employees as per the Employment Standards Act Part X (10). Temporary employees will be hired for the applicable classification and wage rate as per Appendix A of the Collective Agreement. Should a temporary employee apply for a job posting and be successful as per Article 9.07 of the Collective Agreement the temporary employee shall then become a probationary employee. The seniority date of a temporary employee who is awarded a full-time position will equal the date the full-time position is awarded. No person, who is or has been employed by the Company outside of the bargaining unit, shall be eligible to work as a temporary employee within the bargaining unit, unless his record of employment with the Company has been severed in excess of one week.
