Freedom of Association. A teacher's participation or non-participation in religious, political or teacher association activities conducted outside duty hours and off school property shall not be grounds for disciplinary action or for discrimination with respect to professional employment, providing said activities do not violate local, state or national laws or are not prejudicial to the teacher's effectiveness in teaching performance.

Every employee is free to belong to and to participate in the activities of any association, society, organization, club or group without censure or disciplinary action by the Employer, subject only to the limitation that such membership and activity shall not interfere with the performance of the employee's responsibilities, duties, or oath of office. Disputes regarding the extent of such limitation shall be referred to the Joint Standing Committee for resolution.

Freedom of Association. 48.1 This is a Enterprise Agreement. The Employer recognises that the MEAA is the union that has representational coverage for performers.
48.2 The Employer agrees that union membership will be a matter between the Employee and the MEAA.
48.3 The Employer recognises the role of the Equity deputy and where possible will facilitate the Equity deputy carrying out his or her duties.
48.4 Time will be set aside at the beginning of the rehearsal period for a representative from the MEAA to conduct MEAA business. The MEAA will consult with the Employer about a suitable time for this process. Attendance at such meetings will be without payment.
48.5 The Employer will assist with making a suitable private space available for company meetings.
Freedom of Association. 5.1 The decision to picket or not, shall be the free and unfettered decision of each employee.

Irrespective of that choice: • Officers will not be discriminated against in respect of their employment under this Agreement. • An individual officer’s choice to be represented will be respected by all parties in the workplace. Officers who choose to be members of a union have the right to seek advice and assistance from their union and have their interests represented by that union.
Freedom of Association. The teachers shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious or political activity of any teacher outside of school hours, or the lack thereof, shall be grounds for any discipline or discrimination as to the professional employment of such teacher. The private and personal life of any teacher is not within the appropriate concern or attention of the Board provided that it does not detract from his/her effectiveness as a teacher.

Legally permissible religious or political activities of any teacher or the lack thereof shall not be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such teacher and the private life of a teacher is his/her own affair unless his/her conduct should adversely affect his/her relationship with students or the discharge of his/her teaching and other school related duties. Building Administrators will discuss with all teachers the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
