Groundman. An employee who performs semi-skilled work while assisting a Journeyman or Apprentice, including the use of hand tools and portable power tools; assists in overhead and underground line construction and maintenance. For training purposes, employee may be permitted to learn to climb on the job, but shall not do line work. Must possess a valid State Driver's License.

Groundman may operate pick-up trucks and light flatbed trucks. Groundman may operate trucks used to service trucks and equipment on transmission lines. Groundman may drive bucket trucks, line trucks, and light trucks on the job. Groundman may be required to place water and ice in water can. Groundman shall furnish themselves with the following tools: hammer, pliers, ruler, 10" adjustable wrench and skinning knife. Groundman may use hand-mechanized tools to assist tower and pole assembly.

Groundman. A groundman is an employee who is hired and his major portion of the work is to service the journeyman, apprentice and Probationary Employees.
6.06:1 A groundman shall not perform any work that is covered under the Journeyman, Apprentice or Probationary worker classifications until such time a change in classification to apprentice has been mutually agreed to and made by the Union, worker and employer.
6.06:2 A groundman shall have three levels of qualifications:
a) first year of employment
b) second year of employment

Groundman. The duties of a groundman shall be to act as a helper to a line crew, and may include requisitioning, handling and transportation of materials. A groundman shall not be called upon to come in direct contact with conductors or equipment which are potentially alive. Groundmen will be required to have and maintain a driving license of a category necessary to operate Corporation equipment.
Groundman. An employee engaged to perform manual labour, which will include cutting, chipping, piling and burning of brush, act as a Flagger and other work as assigned. A Groundman, provided he is properly licensed, may move vehicles a short distance at the work site only.
Groundman. An employee, under supervision of Working Xxxxxxx, who is engaged in repetitive, unskilled work such as brushing, raking, digging, loading brush and clearing right of ways. They also may use power saws and feed chippers
Groundman. A xxxxxxx whose duties shall include assisting Linemen and other work- men; the requisitioning, handling and trans- porting of materials; the dressing of poles and the assembling of towers and structures on the ground; but who shall not be required to make contact with a conductor which is or may become energized during a job.
Groundman or other qualified personnel It is not the intent of the parties that the Troubleman job definition andƒor unit makeup be used to perform work normally done by a line crew on hot primary, construction or primary line maintenance in excess of 600 volts. Further, it is not the intent of the parties to eliminate the Line Working Xxxxxxx or crew concept to accomplish any of the above named work. (Amended 7−1−98) An employee who is a Journeyman and who performs all classes of transmission and distribution line work when assigned to a crew under the direction of a Working Xxxxxxx or Supervisor Of higher grade. His background of apprenticeship and experience must be such as to qualify him to perform these duties with skill and efficiency. A Lineman may be assigned to work with and under the general direction of a Troubleman and when so assigned the type Of work he performs and the method of supervision shall be governed by the rules with respect to the Troubleman classification. Other general duties as may be assigned in the line of progression. A Lineman may be assigned temporarily to work apart from a crew either alone or as a member of a two−man unit without supervision, doing work, which shall include:
Groundman. An employee engaged in performing unskilled and semi-skilled duties, usually in connection with the construction, maintenance and operation of electrical power transmission and distribution systems. The employee’s principal duties are normally performed as an assistant to a Lineman. The employee may be required to drive a truck, or to use portable power tools. The employee must possess the appropriate State of California driver’s license, and shall be capable of performing the duties efficiently and safely.
