Illness-In-Line. OF-DUTY LEAVE Any teacher shall be entitled to illness-in-line-of-duty leave when he/she has to be absent from duties because of a personal injury received in the discharge of duty or because of diagnosed illness from any contagious or infectious disease contracted in school through which direct contact has been substantiated. Leave shall be authorized for a total not to exceed ten (10) days per year. However, in the case of sickness or injury occurring under such circumstances as in the opinion of the School Board warrants it, additional emergency sick leave may be granted out of local funds for such term and under such conditions as the School Board shall deem proper. Use of such leave shall result in no reduction of the teacher's accumulated sick leave, and shall be with full pay. The Board shall also provide Worker's Compensation insurance for all teachers for properly reported injuries received in the discharge of their duties. (11/06/07)
Illness-In-Line of-Duty‌ Any instructional staff shall be entitled to illness-in-line-of-duty leave when absent from duties because of personal injury received in the discharge of duty or because of illness from any contagious or infectious disease, other than the common cold, contracted in school work. Leave of the instructional staff shall be authorized for a total of not to exceed ten (10) days during any school year for illness contracted or injury incurred from the causes described above. However, in the case of sickness or injury occurring under such circumstances and if the opinion of the Board warrants it, additional emergency sick leave may be granted out of local funds for such term and under such conditions as the Board deems proper. Benefits shall be coordinated between this provision, Workers’ Compensation insurance, and the Sick Leave Bank, according to provisions agreed to by the Board and Association. The use of illness-in-line-of-duty leave or emergency sick leave shall result in no reduction of the instructional staff’s accumulated sick leave. Instructional staff claiming benefits under this provision must file a claim on the appropriate form provided by the Board within five (5) working days following their return to work. The Board shall approve such claims and authorize the payment thereof if the Board is satisfied that the claim correctly states the facts, and that such claim is entitled to payment in accordance with the provisions herein and in accordance with Florida Statutes. When sick leave is exhausted, leave without pay for medical appointments authorized through xxxxxxx’x compensation injury shall not be subjected to progressive discipline.

  • Illness in Family A leave of absence without pay up to one year shall be granted for the purpose of caring for a sick member of the employee’s immediate family. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board.

  • Illness in the Family Where no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs during illness of an immediate member of her family, an employee shall be entitled after notifying her supervisor, to use a maximum of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness to care for the member of the family who is ill.

  • Injury or Illness The Company will grant leave of absence to employees suffering injury or illness for the term of this Agreement, subject to a medical certificate if requested by the employer.
