Illness of children. During the first six months of work for an employer, parents may spend two days for each worked month looking after their children under the age of 13, provided that no other arrangements can be made to have them cared for. After 6 months’ employment, the entitlement will be 12 days during each 12-month period. The same applies to children under the age of 16 when illness is grave enough to lead to at least one day’s stay in hospital. Parents retain their daytime wages as well as shift premium where applicable. The contracting parties agree that the word parent includes xxxxxx parents or guardians, who support the child and act as a parent.

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.

  • Personal Illness or Disability The bargaining unit member may use all or any portion of his/her leave to recover from his/her own illness or disability which shall include, in part, all disabilities caused or contributed to by pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, childbirth, and recovery.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Family Illness Leave An employee will be granted leave of absence for up to five (5) days per year without loss of pay or benefits for family illness. Additional family illness leave may be granted by the employer.

  • Illness in Immediate Family 1. Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher. Serious illness shall mean an illness where death is probable and may occur, surgery is performed requiring hospitalization, or illness requiring treatment by a physician. Two (2) additional days of sick leave may be used where round trip travel is 600 miles or more.

  • Education of Students with Disabilities 3.5.1. The DOE is the State of Hawaii's “state education agency” (SEA) and “local education agency” (LEA) for purposes of compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). All public schools, including charter schools, are part of and fall under the LEA. As such, the School shall comply with all applicable federal and State laws, rules, policies, procedures, and directives regarding the education of students with disabilities, including but not limited to Ch. 8-60, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR).

  • Illness or Disability If, because of Employee’s illness or other disability for a continuous period of more than 45 days, Employee is unable to render the services required by the Company as provided herein, the Company may terminate Employee’s employment hereunder by written notice to Employee at least 30 days in advance of such termination. Upon such termination Employee shall not be entitled to any further payments of any nature, except for payment of (a) any earned but unpaid Annual Base Salary, (b) any unpaid bonuses and (c) unreimbursed business expenses (collectively, “Payable Amounts”). All Payable Amounts shall become due and payable on the date of such termination.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.
