In-Service Day. Beginning Fall Quarter 2006, one full day, or its equivalent, may be removed from Opening Week and apportioned during Winter and/or Spring Quarter for professional development activities.

In-Service Day. A district-wide contractual day of service scheduled on a non-teaching day.
In-Service Day. The first three (3) days of the teacher contract year shall be for teachersprofessional learning and individual classroom work. Teachers will be allowed at least seven (7) hours of teacher-directed work time within those first three (3) days.

In-Service Day. An in-service/curriculum day/workday will be scheduled at the beginning of the school year. This day will be part of the one hundred eighty-four (184) day work year. In-service topics will be designed to provide appropriate instruction of practical value to the bargaining unit member including compliance training and review of district procedures. All bargaining unit members who work with special education students will attend the compliance training and review of district procedures in-service.
In-Service Day. The content and format of the building and/or District professional development days days will be developed with input from the BLT.
In-Service Day. It is understood that department meetings will generally occur on In-Service Day. If there is no department meeting scheduled, a faculty member may engage in activities such as curriculum committees, assessment committees, lead and coordinator meetings, interdisciplinary meetings, or other mission and learning support related activities with the concurrence of the chairperson. Such concurrence will not be unreasonably denied. If there is no department meeting scheduled, then faculty scheduled to teach evening courses may be excused by their chairperson prior to 4:30 that day. It is further understood that department meetings generally would occur during the 3:00 – 4:30 time period on that day, provided that the appropriate 2-week notice has been given. Faculty are expected to work at least 6.5 hours on any In-Service Day. Any absence during said 6.5 hours will require appropriate leave for the actual time missed. If a faculty member has established web hours that day that are posted and are required to be worked, then the 6.5 hours can be adjusted/modified if approved in advance by the chairperson. If a faculty member is scheduled to teach evening classes on In-Service Day, the faculty member shall be released from attending In-Service Day activities for a number of hours equal to the faculty member’s scheduled teaching and office-hours that evening. The activities from which the faculty member shall be released will be at the beginning or end of In-Service Day and determined in consultation with the chairperson.
