TEACHER WORK YEAR. 6.1.1 Mapleton Public Schools and the Mapleton Education Association believe the teaching profession is demanding and rewarding, requiring time and commitments beyond contractual work hours. We further assert that the people involved in this profession are committed to the interest and lives of the students we serve. We acknowledge that maintaining a balance in personal and professional lives is essential to the health and well-being of all.
6.1.2 The teacher work year shall consist of 190 days. Work days shall be an average of 8 hours.
6.1.2.1 Included in the 190 work days there will be a minimum of three teacher work days (to be free of any school or District meetings), and three additional days, determined by each school leadership team, which are individually teacher- directed.
6.1.2.2 Teachers must have time to prepare end-of-term grades. The amount of time needed may vary between schools, grade levels, and content areas. From the time outside student contact, per 6.2.3, each school’s Leadership Team will determine and allocate time needed to complete this task.
6.1.3 Each school’s leadership team will develop and distribute a school specific work calendar which meets the requirements of this Article prior to September 1st of each year.
TEACHER WORK YEAR. 3.1.1 The length of a teacher's work year, not counting compensated extended time, shall not exceed one hundred eighty-eight (188) days. Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Thanksgiving Day shall be paid holidays. NEOEA Day shall be a non-paid, non-work day. At the beginning of the school year, three (3) days in the one hundred eighty- eight (188) day work year shall be mandatory in-service days. Teachers shall have at least one (1) day of the three (3) in-service days prior to the start of the student year to engage in self-directed professional activities. As to professional records/in-service days, the Superintendent shall have authority to direct time spent in maintaining and completing professional records or in other approved activity on such days. There shall be one in-service day occurring after the beginning of the school year during the first semester. This in-service day shall be a paid workday; however, staff will not be required to report. There shall be two (2) non-instructional teacher professional work days scheduled for the end of the first quarter and the end of the third quarter. On these days, teachers shall report for regularly-contracted hours but students shall not report. Administration may schedule up to two (2) hours of PLC time for each day. The time not spent in PLC shall be teacher-directed time. The placement of the second semester in-service day will be determined by the Calendar Committee. One-half of the January in-service day shall be used for in-service activities, and the other one-half day to be used by teachers for self-directed professional activities. MTA shall assist with the planning of the second semester in-service program by appointing three (3) teachers to serve on an in-service committee along with three (3) administrators appointed by the Superintendent. The second semester in- service day shall be available to intervention specialists for self-directed activities. The final contractual workday of the year shall be designated a records day.
3.1.1.1 The Superintendent shall have the ability to create and implement a specialized concept of year-round instruction at select school(s). The Board agrees that any year-round calendar will not be implemented prior to the 2021-22 school year. In staffing any such school(s), the District will first seek qualified volunteers within the affected building, if applicable. TEACHER WORK YEAR. The Teacher work year shall be no more than 186 days. 9-1.0 One (1) Teacher workday each year, prior to the start of school, will be set aside for the Teachers to prepare their classroom(s) for the first day of school.
9-1.1 All other days are scheduled at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee.
9-1.2 In the event school is closed due to inclement weather, the Association agrees to make up, at a time mutually agreed upon, those days necessary to meet state minimum requirements.
TEACHER WORK YEAR. A. The school work year for teachers employed on a ten month basis shall not exceed one hundred and eighty-four (184) days. Time for the purpose of professional development, not to exceed two full days, shall be added to the calendar bringing the total to one hundred and eighty-six (186). The days shall not be held during the regularly scheduled school recess and shall be in place at the time of the approval of the calendar by the Board. Full Day Professional Development Days for all teachers will be 8:15-3:15 with one hour for lunch. Professional staff members shall be solicited for content input for such activities. The school calendar shall be distributed to the staff after adoption by the Board.
B. The school work year shall include days when pupils are in attendance, orientation days and any other days on which teacher attendance is re- quired.
C. Teachers new to the system shall be required to attend no more than five (5) additional orientation days. These days shall be compensated by three
D. The Superintendent shall seek the input of the staff prior to making a cal- endar recommendation to the Board. The Association shall be guaranteed representation on any such committee.
TEACHER WORK YEAR a. The work year for teachers as of the effective date of this Agreement is 187 days, of which 182 are designated for student instruction.
TEACHER WORK YEAR. A. Teachers as defined in this Agreement are employed for the school year commencing September 1 and ending June 30 subject to such reduction in time as may result from prior completion of all teacher normal assignments and responsibilities. It is understood, however, that teachers new to the district or promoted from part-time status may be required to attend staff development and orientation programs during the summer immediately preceding the commencement of their first teaching assignment. A part-time teacher shall attend a prorated number of sessions based upon the teacher’s prior FTE status – e.g., a half time person going to full time would be required to attend 50% of the total number of sessions required of new full-time teachers.
B. Definition of Teacher Work Year - The teacher work year shall include days when pupils are in attendance, orientation days, and any other days on which teacher attendance is required because of emergencies or unusual circumstances. Except as described above in Section A, the teacher work year shall be 186 days which includes four (4) inservice days per year to count toward the one hundred (100) hours training mandate; however, the board reserves the right, under unusual circumstances, to reduce unilaterally the work year. Effective July 1, 2012, the transitional day for grades Kindergarten through and including fifth (5th) grade shall follow the District’s shortened day schedule, and the remainder of the day shall be provided to the teachers as a work day. Effective July 1, 2017, Middle School teachers shall receive the same full transitional day as given to High School teachers for the change of scheduled blocks.
TEACHER WORK YEAR. 1. The basic teacher work year is 187 days, of which 177 are pupil-instruction days, seven are pupil- instruction related days, and 3 are teacher development days. The Board shall establish an advisory committee to evaluate the District’s professional development plan and recommend plans for subsequent years.

TEACHER WORK YEAR. During the length of this contract, the teacher work year shall be contained within the confines of the school calendar as determined by the Board, but shall not exceed one hundred ninety (190) days, comprised of not more than one hundred eighty-two (182) days when pupils are in attendance and the remainder (not to exceed a total of one hundred ninety (190) days) shall be clerical, orientation, in- service, parent conference or record keeping days. The teacher work year for teachers employed on a ten (10) month contract shall be two hundred nine (209) days, and salaries of those teachers shall be increased ten percent (10%) from the attached schedules. Middle school counselors are employed on a 199 day work year. The salaries of those teachers shall be increased five percent (5%) from the attached schedule. The CAEDY is employed on a 195 day work year. The salary of the CAEDY shall be increased two point six percent (2.6%) from the attached schedule. The last school day before Winter Break will be an early dismissal day for both teachers and students. One day prior to the opening of school shall be designated as a room preparation day and 1/2 day at or near the end of each school year shall be scheduled for record keeping or clerical duties. One day of the work year shall be dedicated for Elementary Report Card/Conference Preparation Day for the elementary staff and Secondary Change-Over Day for record keeping or clerical duties for the secondary staff. One of the required in-service days will be for the purpose of completing DSSD requirements in a flexible, teacher-directed format. Teachers under formal observation will also receive in-service credit. Back to School Night/Elementary Conference Committee – the Association and District will form a Back to School Night/Elementary Conference Committee that will be charged with making a proposal for revisions to both Back to School Night and Elementary Conference scheduling for incorporation into the 2018- 2019 school calendar. Both parties will have equal representation on the Committee. An exception to the defined teacher work year is made for one 12-month teaching position in the Agriculture Department. The teacher assigned to the 12 month Agriculture position is assigned 20 vacation days per year during non- instructional days and is permitted the district approved holidays. The teacher serving in this position shall receive 125% of pay based on that individual’s service and degree status.
TEACHER WORK YEAR. Section 1. The teacher work year shall consist of 1,335 hours over a period of time not to exceed 184 days and shall include the following:
