REGULAR WORK YEAR. 1. The annual salary established for employees covered by this Agreement shall be payable in respect of the teachers' regular work year which shall not exceed the number of days as prescribed by the Standard School Calendar. 2. a. The teacher's regular work year shall include all school days in session which shall be scheduled during the period commencing the Tuesday immediately following Labour Day and ending the last Friday in June of the subsequent year. If the last Friday falls before June 26, the last scheduled day will be June 30.

REGULAR WORK YEAR. Employees who are regularly assigned to work a “five (5) on two (2) off” schedule, shall continue to be eligible to receive one hundred four (104) scheduled days off per calendar year and two (2) additional days off per calendar year not scheduled, but arranged at any time at the convenience of the Department. Days voluntarily worked in whole or in part on scheduled or arranged days off in programs such as CRASH, 55 MPH or RAID are considered as days off for the purpose of this contract.

All days in session shall be scheduled between the Tuesday after Labour Day and the last Friday in June of the subsequent year, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, statutory holidays, winter break and spring break. 4. The days in session in the regular work year for the teacher shall include: a. no fewer than five (5) non-instructional days for professional development; b. no fewer than one (1) administrative day (being two part days); c. any days that the Board and the Association agree to set aside for curriculum/educational change activities. 5. The first day of Winter break shall be the Monday preceding December 26. School shall reopen on the Monday following January 1, unless January 1 is a Sunday; then school shall reopen Tuesday, January 3. 6. The first day of Spring break shall be the third Monday in March. School shall reopen the fourth Monday in March. If the fourth Monday in March is Easter Monday, school shall reopen on the Tuesday following the fourth Monday in March. 7. Any teacher requested by the Superintendent or the Principal and who agrees to work beyond the number of prescribed days in the school year shall receive equivalent compensatory time off or shall be paid as provided in this contract by mutual agreement. 8. In the event of a Board-ordered closure of the work site or cancellation of student attendance, teachers shall be expected to report to work unless otherwise advised. In any event, teachers shall not suffer any loss of pay.

The regular work year for teachers shall include: a. no fewer than five (5) non-instructional days for professional development according to guidelines developed by the committee established pursuant to Article F.20.4

If the fourth Monday in March is Easter Monday, school will reopen on the Wednesday following the fourth Monday in March. 20.4 The regular work year for teachers covered by this Agreement shall include: a. a minimum of four professional development days as provided for in Article F.21 (Professional Development). b. a minimum of one (1) day for parent/student/teacher conferences, such day or two (2) half (0.5) days to be determined by the staff committee in each school; c. one (1) hour on not more than four (4) instructional days for the purpose of facilitating parent- teacher interviews, such time to be determined by the staff committee in each school. d. one (1) year end administration day which shall be the last day in the regular work year during which no teacher shall be required to offer instruction. 20.5 Teacher of Primary 1 (kindergarten) students shall be provided five (5) consecutive instructional days after the opening for phased-in Primary 1. The co-ordination of such shall be subject to approval of the administrative officer. 20.6 A teacher who is requested in writing by the Superintendent of Schools or designate to work beyond the regular work year and who agrees to such employment shall be paid at the rate of 1/195 of his/her annual salary entitlement for each day worked. 20.7 At the time of the request and agreement to work the teacher may elect to take compensatory time in lieu of salary. The scheduling of compensatory time shall be determined by the teacher in consultation with the Superintendent of Schools or designate. 20.8 Nothing in this Article shall preclude the voluntary acceptance of special or extraordinary assignments not normally a teaching functio...
