Labourer and Operator Classification Description Guidelines. Labourers may be hired at any classification level based on experience, skills, tickets or other requirements as determined by management. The definitions are understood to be a classification guideline. Labourer - Definitions: • Labourer (entry level) classification is intended for new employees lacking prior experience. Employees will remain at this level for a maximum period of six months. • Labourer (intermediate) classification is intended for employees who have adequate general construction experience in order to be able to work with moderate supervision. Employees will remain at this level for a maximum period of one year, provided the above conditions are met. • Labourer (skilled) classification is intended for employees who are experienced in the general aspects of industrial construction and who require minimal ongoing supervision. • Labourer (skilled with designation) – Skilled labourer with ticket in Construction Craft Labour or an equivalent program. Operators may be hired at any classification level based on experience, skills, tickets or other requirements as determined by management. The definitions are understood to be a classification guideline. Labourers who begin to operate equipment may be moved to an operator #3 level after they have met the requirements for that level and are operating equipment consistently. Operator - Definitions: • Equipment Operator #1 - operation of and applicable certifications for dozer, front end loader, excavator and class 1 truck. • Equipment Operator #2 operation of and applicable certifications for zoom boom, ride on compaction equipment, and class 3 truck. • Equipment Operator #3 operation of and applicable certifications for skid steer, and fork lift.   • Quality Assurance Program An employee shall be entitled to leave of absence without loss of earnings from her or his regularly scheduled working hours for the purpose of writing examinations required by the College of Nurses of Ontario arising out of the Quality Assurance Program.
