Coffee Breaks and Meal Periods. (a) There will be two (2) coffee breaks of fifteen (15) minutes duration on each shift, one (1) in the first half of the shift and one (1) in the second half of the shift.
(b) Employees will be given an unpaid meal period of 1/2 hour per ten (10) hour shift and such period will not be considered as time worked.

d) For employees working as per Article 9.02, coffee and meal breaks will be as follows: • Two (2) fifteen (15) minute paid coffee breaks and one thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch break for employees working shift as per Article 9.02 (a). • Three (3) twenty (20) minute paid breaks per shift for employees working shift as per Article 9.02 (b).

For a shift that is eight (8) hours or longer, there will be two (2) coffee breaks of fifteen (15) minutes duration on each shift from the time the employee reaches the designated break area: one in the first half of the shift and one in the second half of the shift. For every additional two (2) hours worked past the regular eight (8) hours, an employee will receive a coffee break of fifteen (15) minutes in duration, or a meal break as specified in Article 9.08(c).
b. Employees will be given a meal period of one-half (½) hour per shift but such period will not be considered as time worked, except when it can be negotiated with the client to have it paid.

If employees work beyond twelve (12) hours in a day, the Employer will provide a one-half (½) hour meal break for the employees after the twelfth (12th) hour worked if the work is anticipated to exceed thirteen (13) hours. If the length of day was not scheduled prior to the start of the day, a meal will also be provided.

Employees shall be entitled to an additional coffee break for every two (2) hours of overtime worked ‘ashore’ in a given day, where practicable.
b) Employees working ‘at sea’ shall be assigned coffee breaks and meal breaks by their Skipper consistent with the nature of the work at hand and the safety of the vessel and/or tow.
c) If employees are not scheduled, but are required to work beyond twelve (12) hours in a day, the Employer will provide a meal period of one half (1/2) hour and a meal for the employees, where practical.
