Language Premium. Effective upon ratification of this Agreement by both parties, employees assigned to perform bilingual, interpretive and/or translation services for the City shall receive a two hundred dollar ($200.00) per month premium pay. The City shall ensure employees providing language access services are independently evaluated and approved. The City may review the assignment annually and may terminate the assignment at any time.
Language Premium. 23 1. The Company may establish language premium duty assignments as determined by 24 the Company.
25 2. Qualified employees in language premium duty assignments will be paid language 26 premium for all hours worked.
27 3. The language premium is $1.00 per hour to be added to the employee’s base rate of 28 pay.
29 4. Employees occupying, applying for or transferring into a language premium position 30 may be required to pass a functional proficiency exam (written and/or oral) specific to 31 Passenger Service duties as established by the Company and the Union.
32 5. Employees who are qualified for a language premium position as outlined above, and 33 who, at Company direction, perform work requiring their language skill will be paid 34 the language premium for each hour worked requiring their language skill or a 35 minimum of four (4) hours, whichever is greater.
Language Premium. An employee fluent in a language prevalent in the community served by MHCD or useful among people served by MHCD shall be entitled to a $1.00 per hour premium above the employee’s regular hourly rate. The premium for Spanish and American Sign Language shall be $2.50 per hour. Employees fluent in more than one language shall not be eligible for more than one premium. Prior to receiving the premium, an employee shall be tested to ensure fluency sufficient to assist a person served with clinical interactions. Any employee already receiving the language premium shall continue to receive the premium.

Language Premium. Effective January 1, 2020, employees assigned to perform bilingual, interpretive and/or translation services for the Library shall receive a $200.00 per month premium pay. (Details about how this work will be assigned and to whom are still under development and subject to negotiation.) Boot allowance: Boot reimbursement for eligible employees (those who are required to wear specific footwear due to safety requirements related to their classification) will rise from $140 in 2019, to $175.00 in 2020 and $200.00 in 2021.
