Layoff/Reallocation Procedure. The following procedure will be utilized when there is an involuntary reduction in force (layoff) or when there is an involuntary reallocation of staff resulting from the merger of two (2) or more units, when the FTE complement on the unit (and/or shift) is changed or reduced, or if there is a unit closure. If a unit closure occurs, nurses will select positions from the low seniority roster (6.2.3). At any point in this procedure, a nurse regardless of seniority may volunteer for layoff without affecting the nurse's recall rights and/or unemployment claims.
