Long Term Disability Income Insurance a. Long term disability insurance will be provided at no cost to all unit members working a minimum of seventeen and one half (17 1/2) hours per week. Employees who are totally disabled as determined by the insurance company will receive two-thirds (2/3) of their monthly salary to a maximum monthly benefit of seven thousand dollars ($7,000). Benefits will begin on the later of the ninety-first (91st) calendar day of disability or at the end of their sick pay. Benefits will continue for as long as the employee remains disabled, with a maximum duration as defined by Age Discrimination and Employment Act – B (ADEA-B) (Extended). Please refer to the insurance contract for this benefit duration schedule.
b. Specific eligibility requirements and benefit coverage shall be in accordance with the master plan administered by the District.

3. LTD benefits for an insured staff member begin the later of one-hundred eighty (180) days of being disabled from your occupation or the exhaustion of your illness bank and continue for as long as the disability continues or until the affected individual retires.

The Aurora Public Schools shall pay the full premium amount equal to .0039 of the annual salary of the teacher for the 2021- 2022 school year. All coverage of the long-term disability income insurance shall be limited to the provisions of the insurance policy. The Aurora Education Association shall be notified should a change in long-term disability income insurance carrier occur.

b. The specific terms and conditions, which are applied by the insurance company in administering this benefit, are contained in the master contract with the District.
c. The District shall provide reimbursement for the reasonable cost of replacing or repairing dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aides, or other like items not covered by workers’ compensation/employee’s health insurance which are damaged, destroyed, or lost as a result of an assault suffered by an administrator while he/she was acting in the discharge of duties within the scope of regular employment. Said reimbursement shall not exceed $500.00 for the term of this agreement.

If three months prior to the appointment at Xxxxx State University the bargaining-unit member was insured through his/her previous employer under a group disability policy which provided income benefits for a minimum period of five years during total disability due to sickness, the bargaining-unit member is eligible for long-term disability insurance on the first day of the month that coincides with or next follows the date of appointment at Xxxxx State University.

The plan provides for 66.67% of the administrator’s salary. The Aurora Public Schools shall pay the full premium amount equal to .0039 of the annual salary of the administrator for the 2016-2017 school year. All coverage of the long-term disability income insurance shall be limited to the provisions of the insurance policy. The administrator shall be notified by August 1 should a change in long-term disability income insurance carrier occur.
