Long-Term Use of Sick Leave a. For leaves that exceed sixty (60) consecutive days, the Superintendent may, at the Board’s cost, require the teacher or the person for whom the leave is taken to be examined by a doctor selected by the Superintendent. If the opinion of the doctor selected by the Superintendent is that the continuation of sick leave is not medically necessary, the teacher or the person for whom the leave is taken shall be examined, at the Board’s cost, by a second doctor selected jointly by the Superintendent’ doctor and the treating physician of the teacher or person for whom leave is taken. The opinion of the second doctor in regard to continuation of sick leave shall be binding on the teacher and the Board as to the medical necessity of the leave.

Long-Term Use of Sick Leave. In cases of long-term disability or illness lasting more than two (2) pay periods, a teacher who is unable to return to work because of medical reason(s) must submit a physician's statement certifying disability or illness.

  • Use of Sick Leave a. An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill.   • Use of Sick Leave Credits An employee may draw from the employee’s sick leave credits in conjunction with Workers’ Compensation payments to equal, but not exceed, the employee’s regular daily rate of pay. When the insurance company makes payment, the Town shall be reimbursed for that portion of sick leave covered by insurance and the employee will be re-credited with the proportional amount of sick leave. An employee may not use vacation or personal leave credits to supplement Workers’ Compensation.
