The parties have renewed their commitment to reduce the overall number of ‘management’ positions as compared to the 2013 management structure. • Through attrition add a Centre of Store Department Manager. The parties recognize the need for stability and developmental positions in certain areas of the stores. With that in mind the Employer may add up to a maximum of two (2) Management Trainees unless agreed otherwise. • A Management Trainee position will be filled by EOP and hours are not subject to claim. The Employer is committed to placing a priority on selecting internal applicants for a Management Trainee position.

Should they step down or be demoted within one year, they will return to their originating store. Where the Management Trainee is transferred between stores within the first year, promoted to a Key Personnel position, or in the event they stay in the position past the one year, they then will fall under the current 40 in/out step down language thereafter.

Management Trainee positions may be posted in Bakery, Deli, Meat, Produce and Centre of Store (COS). A Management Trainee position will be filled by EOP and hours are not subject to claim. The Employer is committed to placing a priority on selecting internal applicants for a Management Trainee position. Members promoted from store clerk to Management Trainee shall be placed on a one time one year “trainee” leave of absence. Should they step down or be demoted while on the trainee leave of absence they will return to their originating store. Where the Management Trainee is transferred between stores while in their one year leave, promoted to another Key Personnel position, or in the event they stay in the position past the one year leave of absence, they then will fall under the current 40 in/out step down language thereafter.
