A Regular Full-time Employee required by the Employer to work on a Named Holiday shall be paid for all hours worked on a Named Holiday at one point five times (1.5 X) the Basic Rate of Pay and at two times (2.0 X) the Basic Rate of Pay for the named holidays of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, plus: (a) payment for such day at the Basic Rate of Pay; or (b) an alternate day off at a mutually agreed time; or (c) by mutual agreement, a day added to her next annual vacation. 17.04 When a paid holiday falls on a day that would otherwise be a Regular Full-time Employee's regularly scheduled day off, the Employee shall receive an alternate day off with pay as outlined in clause 17.03 above. 17.05 When a Named Holiday falls during a Regular Full-time Employee's annual vacation, such holiday may, by mutual agreement, be added to the vacation period, or the alternate day off shall be dealt with as per clause 17.03 above. (c) Pay for the day referred in Article 17.03(a)(i)(ii)(iii) shall be for 7.5 hours. (d) The Employer shall not schedule the alternate day until such time as the Employee and Employer have endeavoured to agree on the date of the alternate day off. Failing mutual agreement within 30 calendar days following the Named Holiday of the option to be applied, the Employee shall have a day off with pay scheduled adjacent to a scheduled day of rest. (e) In addition to an alternate day off, an Employee who is obliged to work overtime on a Named Holiday shall be paid as follows: (i) For all overtime hours worked on a Named Holiday 2.5X their Basic Rate of Pay. NAMED HOLIDAYS. 17.01 10.01 The following are the Named Holidaysdays will be considered as paid named holidays: DRAFT (a) New Year's Years Day Labour Day Alberta Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Easter Monday (if school holiday or Monday of Spring Break) Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day August Civic Holiday (Heritage Day) And Christmas Floater and all general holidays proclaimed to be a statutory holiday by any of the following: (commonly called STAT holidaysi) proclaimed by the City The city or Municipality or municipality; (ii) The Government of the Province of Alberta or the Government of Canada. Effective September 30, 2023, amend 17.01 as follows: The following are the Named Holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Alberta Family Day National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Remembrance Day Canada Day Christmas Day August Civic Holiday (Heritage Day) Boxing Day And all general holidays (commonly called STAT holidays) proclaimed by the City or Municipality or the Province of Alberta Alberta; or the Government of Canada. 17.02 (b) The Employer will determine when the Christmas Float Holiday (three paid days) will be observed so as to ensure that the efficient operation of the schools will be maintained. This Christmas Float Holiday shall be observed during the regular Christmas school holiday period, and (c) All Employees are entitled to three (3) paid days off to be taken between Christmas and New Year’s except where operational requirements do not permit. Days off shall be designated by the Employer. 10.02 Should any of the holidays listed in 10.01 (a) fall on a weekend, or on an employee’s regular day off, the Employee, shall receive an extra day’s holiday to be taken at a time approved by the Chief Superintendent or the Employee shall receive a regular day’s pay. Part time Employees working less than five (5) days per week shall receive extra holiday credits on a pro rata basis according to the number of days and hours they actually work. 10.03 Church holidays, or any other special holidays, shall be observed at the discretion of the Employer . 10.04 Requests for leave without pay on religious holidays will be considered, provided adequate notice of the request is given. 10.05 When an Employee is called back to work on a paid holiday, they shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of the Overtime Article. 10.06 Authorized travel on Employer business on a paid holiday shall be considered working hours and shall be compensated in accordance with Article 24. 10.07 An Employee required to work on December 25 or 26 or on January 1 shall be compensated in accordance with the overtime Article. 10.08 To qualify for a Named Holiday with paypaid holidays, an Employee must have worked the Employee must: (a) work their last scheduled shift immediately prior to the holiday and immediately the first scheduled shift following the holiday, except where the Employee is absent absence due to illness or other reasons acceptable to the Employer; and (b) work on the holiday when scheduledis substantiated by a certificate, signed by a medical practitioner. 17.03 Regular Full-time Employees shall be entitled to a day off with pay on a Named Holiday. A Regular Full-time Employee and Regular Part-time Employees required by the Employer to work on a Named Holiday shall be paid for all hours worked on a Named Holiday at one point five times (1.5 X) the Basic Rate basic rate of Pay and at two times (2.0 X) the Basic Rate of Pay for the named holidays of Christmas Day and New Year's Daypay, plus:: DRAFT (a) the Employee may request payment for such day at the Basic Rate basic rate of Paypay; or (b) an alternate day off at a mutually agreed timetime to be used within a ninety (90) day period after the holiday; or (c) by mutual agreement, a failure to mutually schedule the lieu day added to her next annual vacationwill result in the Employer paying an additional day. 17.04 When a paid holiday falls on a day that would otherwise be a Regular Full-time Employee's ’s and Regular Part-time Employee’s regularly scheduled day off, the Employee shall receive an alternate day off with pay as outlined in clause Clause 17.03 above. 17.05 When a Named Holiday falls during a Regular Full-time Employee's ’s and Regular Part-time Employee’s annual vacation, such holiday may, by mutual agreement, be added to the vacation period, or the alternate day off shall be dealt with as per clause Article 17.03 above.
