Other uses of sick leave. A. Medical and dental appointments may be charged to sick leave, provided the minimum time charged is not less than one hour. Each absence shall be reported separately and authorized in advance by the employee's immediate supervisor.

Other uses of sick leave. Accrued and available sick leave will be allowed for necessary attendance to the illness of an employee, of the employee's immediate family until other attendance can be reasonably obtained; to attend a funeral in the immediate family; to receive medical, dental, or eye examinations; or for other disability-related emergencies. Employees shall provide notice of time off in advance whenever possible. An employee’s failure to report for a scheduled shift without calling and reporting their absence prior to the start of the shift will be cause for termination, except in cases of legitimate emergencies
Other uses of sick leave a. Medical Appointments. Absence due to medical, dental and eye appointments shall be reported as sick leave and rounded to the nearest half-hour.
Other uses of sick leave. Full-time employees may use their accumulated sick days to care for their sick children. Full-time employees may use up to five (5) days from their bank of accumulated sick days to care for a family member, including a parent, grandparent. The employee has the right to use his annual time off if the employee sick bank is depleted.

  • Uses of Sick Leave Sick leave shall be granted to an employee upon approval of the Employer and for the following reasons:

An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill. Such leave may be taken for part of a single day.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.

  • Utilization of Sick Leave Employees who have accrued paid leave time shall be eligible for paid leave for any period of absence from employment which includes but is not limited to the employee’s illness; injury; temporary disability; medical or dental care; or to attend to members of the employee’s or the employee’s spouse’s immediate family or domestic partner or domestic partner’s immediate family, where the employee’s presence is required because of illness or as otherwise required by the state or federal Family Medical Leave Act or other State law. The Employer may, in its sole discretion, require reasonable proof of illness or disability and/or certification of the necessity of the employee’s absence.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.

  • Entitlement to Other Sick Leave Each employee in the bargaining unit shall once a year be credited with a total of 100 days sick leave in addition to the sick leave provided under Section 13.4.1 of this Article. Each day of sick leave provided by this Section shall be compensated at the rate of fifty (50) percent of the employee’s regular salary. The paid sick leave provided for under this Section shall be in addition to any other paid leave provided for in this Article and shall be used after the exhaustion of the leaves provided in Sections 13.4. The leave in this Section shall not be accumulative.

  • Use of Sick Leave Credits An employee may draw from the employee’s sick leave credits in conjunction with Workers’ Compensation payments to equal, but not exceed, the employee’s regular daily rate of pay. When the insurance company makes payment, the Town shall be reimbursed for that portion of sick leave covered by insurance and the employee will be re-credited with the proportional amount of sick leave. An employee may not use vacation or personal leave credits to supplement Workers’ Compensation.
