Personal Illness and Injury Leave. 15.1.1 Unit members employed on a full-time basis shall be entitled to accumulate ten (10) days per school year of sick leave available to the unit member from the first day of each year. Sick leave may be used by the unit member for personal illness or injury. Sick leave that is not used shall accumulate from year to year without limit. 15.1.2 Unit members who work less than full-time and/or who work on extended work year shall be entitled to accumulate and use sick leave for all such service at a rate that is in the same proportion to the full- time entitlement as their part-time employment bears to full-time employment. 15.1.3 The District shall provide each unit member with an accounting of the number of hours of sick leave he/she has accumulated, plus the number of hours to which the unit member is entitled for the current school year on their monthly paystubs. 15.1.4 Upon exhaustion of all accumulated sick leave, a unit member who would otherwise qualify for sick leave under the provisions of this article shall receive, for up to one hundred (100) days, the difference between his/her pay and the amount actually paid a substitute, or if no substitute has been employed, the amount that would be paid a substitute, or fifty (50) percent pay, which ever is greater. 15.1.5 Unit members may use accumulated sick leave as set forth in this Article for disabilities caused by pregnancy, miscarriage, or childbirth, and recovery there from. The length of such sick leave including the date that the leave is to begin and the date that the duties are to be resumed shall be determined by the unit member’s physician, who shall provide the District with written confirmation of disability. 15.1.6 If a unit member is absent for a half-day (1/2), one-half (1/2) day of sick leave will be deducted.

Personal Illness and Injury Leave. 15.1.1 Unit members 1. Members of the unit employed on by the District five (5) days per week with full pay for a full-time basis fiscal year shall be entitled to accumulate ten twelve (1012) days per school of leave of absence for illness or injury, exclusive of days they are not required to render service pay, as used in this Article, means the employee’s regularly assigned work day, exclusive of overtime. 2. Members of the unit employed less than five (5) days a week and/or less than a full fiscal year are entitled to that proportion of twelve (12) days leave of absence for illness or injury as the number of months and/or number of days a week they are employed bear to twelve (12) months. 3. Pay for the hour(s) or day(s) of illness or injury need not be accrued prior to taking such leave by the employee and such leave may be taken at any time during the employee’s assigned work year. Probationary employees of the District shall not be entitled to take more than six (6) days, or the proportionate amount to which they may be eligible under Section 1 and 2. 4. Members of the bargaining unit absent due to illness or injury must notify the District’s designated person of their intent to be absent, the nature of the illness or injury not later than one and one-half hours prior to the start of the work shift in order to be eligible for paid illness or injury leave, except in cases of emergency. 5. Members of the bargaining unit requesting paid illness or injury leave may be required, at the discretion of the Superintendent, to provide medical statements to verify illness and injury, without any cost to be borne by the employee. 6. The District shall provide each employee with a written statement of: a. His/her accrued sick leave available to total; and b. His/her sick leave entitlement for the unit member from year. Such statement, along with projected salary data, shall be provided no later than the first day of each work year. Sick leave may be used by the unit member for personal illness or injury. Sick leave that is not used shall accumulate from year to year without limit. 15.1.2 Unit members who work less than full-time and/or who work on extended work year shall be entitled to accumulate and use sick leave for all such service at a rate that is 7. The paid sick leave as set forth provided for under this Section shall be exclusive of any other paid leave provided for in this Article for disabilities caused by pregnancy, miscarriage, or childbirth, and recovery there from. The length of such sick leave including the date that the leave is to begin and the date that the duties are to be resumed shall be determined by used after the unit member’s physician, who exhaustion of the leaves provided in Section A-1 and A-2. Employees using this leave shall provide the District with written confirmation medical verification of disabilityillness after three consecutive days of utilization. 15.1.6 If a unit member is absent for a half-day (1/2), one-half (1/2) day of sick leave will be deducted.
