Personal Leave. Personal Leave. The local A. Personal Leave. A. Each teacher shall be granted annually four (4) days of personal leave at the regular rate of compensation. This personal leave may be taken by a teacher without clarifying to the administration the reason for the request. Except in cases of urgent necessity the request for such leave will be filed on the appropriate form with the Superintendent, and a copy provided to the appropriate building principal, at least 72 hours prior to the taking of any personal leave.
B. Except as provided in Section D below, personal leave shall not be available:
1. The local Superintendent has first five (5) and last ten (10) student days of the authority school year;
2. The days of parent/teacher conferences and days on which there will be teacher in-service;
3. No more than three (3) teachers from each of the following groups (Pre-K-4), (5-8), (9-12) shall be permitted to grant to any employee take personal leave at the same time unless special permission is sought and granted by the Superintendent. Personal leave will be recognized on a first- come-first-served basis; and
4. Personal leave may be used by up to three (3) days of personal leave during each school year. Notice of intent for such leave shall be submitted in writing employees, on a first-come first-served basis, who produce evidence to the Superintendent of pre-arranged travel plans that conflict with make-up days. To qualify, the travel plans must have been made prior to January 1. C. Emergency requests shall be directed to the building principal for immediate disposition. The written form must be completed and filed within three (3) days after the return from absence.
D. Personal leave may be used before or after Board-recognized holidays when a leave form is submitted at least two thirty (30) days prior to the requested date to the building principal, subject to the restrictions of (B) (2), (3), and (4). Subject to the limitation stated in B(3) above, personal leave may be used for the following reasons on the first five (5) and last ten (10) days before of the period school year by providing a written notice to the building principal including the reason for the absence:
1. College graduation or completion of absence is to beginmilitary training ceremonies in the immediate family;
2. Moving a child into college;
3. Wedding of a child;
4. Other extenuating circumstances that affect the immediate family, except in emergency situations. Upon approval as approved by the Superintendent.
E. (1) Emergencies such as serious illness in Junethe family or death of a family member or close friend.
(2) Illness or injury when the employee’s sick leave is exhausted.
(3) Litigation requiring court attendance or when subpoenaed or officially requested to appear by a governmental agency.
(4) For purposes designed to improve the performance of a certificated employee such as an education conference or institute when the request is initiated by the certificated employee.
(5) When hardships, such as inclement weather, prevent a certificated employee from reaching work.
(C) At its option, the District may grant other personal leaves without precedent, for reasons it feels are justifiable, with the employee paying the cost of the substitute.

Personal Leave. The local Superintendent A. All employees shall be allowed two (2) unrestricted personal leave days, and additional days may be granted at supervisor’s discretion.
B. Personal leave shall be for the purpose of conducting personal business, which cannot be conducted at times other than regular school hours.
C. A bargaining unit member shall be allowed to take one personal leave day per custodial child, per year to accompany their child/children on school related activities. A bargaining unit member shall be allowed to take personal leave days to attend or to travel to school related state competition events in which their child is (or children are) participating, and which occurs during the employee’s work day. One event per child, per level of competition (sectional, district, regional, and state) will be granted.
D. Personal business would not include such activities as vacation, extending a vacation or holiday period, social or recreational activities, shopping trips, hobby activities, secondary employment, accompanying a spouse on a trip, job hunting, sick leave, etc. If a question arises as to the appropriateness of a reason, it should be reviewed with the immediate supervisor before taking the leave.
E. If the supervisor has reasonable grounds to believe that a bargaining unit member has applied for and used personal leave in violation of “D” above, the authority supervisor may request the bargaining unit member to grant verify his/her use of personal leave. Any bargaining unit member found to have used personal leave for any employee up to of the activities cited in “D” shall be reprimanded and have his/her salary docked for the day in question and/or face legal action.
F. Written requests for personal leave shall be submitted at least three (3) days in advance of the date for which leave is requested. If three (3) days notice is not possible the employee shall notify the immediate supervisor as soon as possible. In such situations, the personal leave during each school year. Personal Leave. 1. Each employee shall be granted three (3) days per school year for the purpose of conducting personal business, which cannot be conducted at times other than during the regular school day.

5. Retiring employees may choose to be compensated for unused personal days in one of two ways:

Personal leave To accommodate the increased possibility of extenuating circumstances or contingencies that may arise as the result of the coronavirus pandemic, this provision shall not be granted in effect at the end of Academic Year 2019-2020, enabling employees to carry over personal leave beyond four (4) days during Academic Year 2020-2021 only. Personal Leave. The local Superintendent has 1. Personal Leave. Personal leave shall be granted each year upon proper application and in accordance with the following:
1. The local Superintendent has bargaining unit member must notify his/her supervisor of his/her intent to take the authority to grant to leave 72 hours in advance except in emergency situations.

8. A new bargaining unit member’s personal leave days will be pro-rated on the remainder of their year over their total year.
9. Personal day requests will be dated and time received noted for bookkeeping purposes. Personal days will be granted on a first come, first served basis. If personal leave requests are received on the same day and time for the same date(s) and granted, then seniority rules. Personal Leave. The local Superintendent has 1. A bargaining unit member who does not use all of the authority three (3) personal days to grant to any employee which they are entitled in a year (July 1-June 30) may carry over up to two (2) unused days into the succeeding year, with the further understanding that: (A) in no year can a member have more than a total of five (5) accrued days, and (B) in no year can more than three (3) personal days be used consecutively.

For Custodians, the limit shall be one (1) day takenat an elementary building and two (2) at Xxxxxxx, two (2) at Junior High and two (2) at Senior High, unless approved by administration. Maternity/ Paternity leave is allowed for up to twelve (12) weeks in the first 12 months after the date of "0" days birth or adoption. A written request shall be sent to the Personnel Office requesting the leave. Accumulated sick leave can be used for up to six (6) weeks of personal leave 3 days current substitute pay as this period of September 1 time. Personal Leave. The local Superintendent has 1. A bargaining unit member who does not use all of the authority three (3) personal days to grant to any employee which they are entitled in a school year may carry over up to two (2) unused days into the succeeding school year, with the further understandings that: (A) in no school year can the member have more than a total of five (5) accrued days, and (B) in no school year can more than three (3) personal days be used consecutively.
2. Submission of a request indicates that the employee is in compliance with the criteria for personal leave.

Personal Leave. A. Three (3) days per year are available to full-time teachers for personal leave. Personal leave for teachers employed on other than a full-time basis, including job share teachers, shall be credited and deducted at the proportionate rate set forth in their contract of employment.
B. Personal leave usage is available with the following guidelines:
1. All personal leave is dependent on the availability of a substitute or other arrangements for covering the teacher’s responsibilities. 3. The teacher shall have the option of converting unused personal days to sick leave days or may be reimbursed at the casual substitute rate per day by written petition to the Treasurer of the Board by the final teacher work day. Checks will be sent out not later than the first pay in July.
4. Unused personal leave will not be cumulative from year to year.
5. For proration purposes, a teacher hired during the first sixty (60) days of the school year on regular contract shall have three (3) days of personal leave during each that school year. c. Time taken for personal business not included in or in excess of the amount allowed may not be made up, on a professional development day either prior to or when subsequent to the absence, and shall result in salary loss.
d. It is understood that any employee covered by this Agreement who in willful misrepresentation violates this personal leave policy shall be subject to disciplinary action.
e. Personal leave days not taken will be carried over as accumulated sick leave. 25.1 Personal Leave consists of:
a) Sick leave which is provided to cater for circumstances where employees are unfit for work due to illness or accident.
b) Xxxxx’s leave which is provided to facilitate attendance to immediate family or household member in cases of injury or illness.
c) Leave required for the authority to grant to any employee up to three (3) purposes outlined in 46.9(a).
25.2 Employees shall be credited with 15 days of personal leave during with pay upon commencement and a further 15 days with pay at completion of each school year12 months of paid employment. Personal Leave. A. Each member of the bargaining unit may receive full pay for a maximum of five days (5) in any school year for personal reasons that cannot be transacted outside the normal school day to include, but not be limited to, care of ill family members, religious holidays, attendance and travel at graduation for family members, marriage of family members, compulsory legal matters, doctor appointments and funerals of family members. Under unusual circumstances, the Superintendent of Schools may extend the maximum allowance of five (5) days per year. For purposes of this article, the term “family” shall include, but not be limited to, the following: parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, spouse’s parents, domestic partner, legal guardian, and any person living in the employee’s household. Teachers will be required to check personal or personal/personal day leave only on the provided form.
B. To qualify for such leave, the teacher must request it through the Superintendent of Schools and, whenever possible, must make the request at least five (5) days in advance. The local Superintendent has shall respond in writing within seventy-two (72) hours of the authority request whenever possible.
C. Such days cannot be taken immediately before or after a vacation or holiday unless the teacher provides the reason to grant to any employee up to the Superintendent and she/he approves. No more than ten (10) members of the teachers’ unit from a single school shall be granted such a personal day on the same date. Such requests shall be granted in the order received by the Superintendent.

Personal Leave. g. Appointment with attorney, accountant, architect or other similar professional when such appointment cannot be made at times other than the regular school day.
h. Extremely urgent personal problems of members of immediate family.
i. Emergencies, natural or personal, for the employee.
j. To enroll or perform an act required for enrollment in a college or university.
k. Other reasons deemed valid by the Superintendent that cannot be taken care of outside regular school hours. For each of the days as defined in Section 2 above, the applicant shall be required to certify specifically identify on approved forms which of the above listed authorized purposes is the basis of such leave. Upon certification by signature the staff member that the purpose of such leave was used in accordance with is one which has been authorized pursuant to this procedure. Specific events or circumstances (emergencies) beyond the control of the employee for which leave may be granted without prior written request are "acts of God" such as severe weather or an unexpected home calamity. Notification of an emergency beyond the control of the employee for the use of personal leave in these cases must be submitted, in writing, to the local Superintendent no later than the first day the employee returns to work. Notice of intent to use personal leave shall be made on the prescribed form. The reason for such leave shall be stated as “personal” and no further details will be required. The prescribed form shall require the employee to certify by signature that the leave was used in accordance with this procedure. Any violation of this procedure shall be considered grounds for disciplinary action including termination. Personal leave normally shall be granted in one-half (½) or one (1) day increments onlyrestricted personal leave each school year.
2. Personal It is agreed that personal leave days shall not be used for seeking or engaging in gainful employment, nor travel associated with this activity.
3. The purpose of the restricted day is to conduct personal business which cannot be attended to except during the school day. It is agreed that the restricted personal leave day shall not be used for rest, recreation, nor seeking or engaging in gainful employment nor travel associated with these activities.
4. No later than forty-eight (48) hours prior to taking personal leave, the member shall announce his/her intent to the building principal or immediate supervisor on the form provided for personal leave. In the event of an emergency, the 48-hour requirement shall be waived. Notice of intended absence shall be given to the appropriate administrator as early as possible.
5. No personal leave shall not be granted during the first or last week of schoola school semester or the day before or after a holiday (except that leave may be taken for graduation, wedding or bar mitzvah of the immediate family as defined under sick leave), on parent-teacher conference days, convocation day, or required inservice education days. No more than four (4) staff from Lake Primary, no more than seven (7) from Lake Elementary, and no more than eight (8) from Lake Middle/High School can be out of a professional development day or when ten percent (10%) or more given building on the same day. However, the Superintendent may waive any of the teachers restrictions of this Article.
6. Any falsification or misuse of the personal leave request or personal leave shall result in the district are scheduled to be absent an unpaid suspension for a personal or professional daythirty (30) work days. A teacher who takes a personal day second falsification or misuse shall constitute good and just cause for the school day immediately preceding or termination of employment.
7. The Superintendent may grant additional days other than those provided herein. Such days shall not be deducted from the school day immediately following a vacation or a holiday will be charged one and one-half (1.5) personal members contractual number of days accumulated.
8. The Superintendent must approve the reasons for the one one

If an employee has unused personal leave 3 days current substitute pay as of September 1 one day, the employee shall receive a lump sum payment of the current school year Use of "1" day of personal leave 2 days current substitute pay as of September 1 of the current school year Use of “2” days of personal leave 1 day current substitute pay as of September 1 of the current school year. Personal Leave. The local Superintendent has the authority to grant to any 7.2.1 Each employee up to three (3) days of personal leave during each school year. Application for personal leave must be submitted to the Chief School Administrator for approval at least forty-eight (48) hours before taking such leave. No more than four (4) members of the Faculty, nor more than two (2) of the Office Personnel, nor more than one (1) of the custodial personnel will be granted personal leave on the same day. 7.2.1.3 Three employees shall be permitted to use one personal day each year immediately before, on a professional development and three other employees shall be permitted to use one personal day or when ten percent (10%) or more of the teachers in the district are scheduled to be absent for a personal or professional dayeach year immediately after, each holiday recess. A teacher who takes a written request to take these personal days shall be made to the Chief School Administrator or his secretary, and will be granted by the Chief School Administrator based upon the order of receipt. Only one such personal day for the school day immediately preceding before or the school day immediately following a vacation or after each holiday recess will be granted to each employee. 7.2.2 No application for personal leave shall require a statement of reason except during the month of June when reasons for request for personal days must be submitted. B. Two of the four days of personal leave available to employee yearly pursuant to paragraph A of this section may be taken at the discretion of the employee upon notice to the District pursuant to paragraph E of this section. The use of such leave by an employee shall be consistent with professional responsibility.
D. Personal leave credits available to an employee pursuant to paragraph A of this section which are not used by June 30 of the school year in which they are granted shall,
(1) in the case of personal leave to be used in accordance with paragraph B of this section, be added to the employee's accumulated days of sick leave. Such absences cannot , thereafter to be used for a purpose which would in accordance with Section 4.1 hereof; or
(2) in the case of personal leave to be chargeable used in accordance with paragraph C of this section, either
(a) be added to the employee's accumulated sick leave unless thereafter to be used in accordance with Section 4.1 hereof, or
(b) be converted to cash at the teacher has exhausted sick leave.
