Property Damage/Loss. I am responsible for maintaining my room in a reasonable condition at all times and will correct any deficiencies called to my attention by University representatives. I will not remove or permit the removal of room furnishings without prior approval by the appropriate Resident Director/Area Coordinator. I shall not move public area or lounge furnishings into my room at any time. I will be held financially responsible for all damage (including, but not limited to, repair and cleaning costs) to University property in my room, including damage by my guests, during my occupancy. Housing representatives may enter my room at any time, including weekends, holidays, and vacation periods, for routine maintenance and building service work, life safety inspections, and for emergency purposes.

Property Damage/Loss. The District shall reimburse teacher/licensed professionals for loss of or damage to personal property, excluding automobiles, under the following circumstances: 1. Property stolen or damaged where there is evidence of forcible entry on a locked container provided by the District or forcible entry into another secured place provided by the District. 2. If an item cannot be secured, then the supervisor's prior approval to have the item at the workplace will be required in order to be reimbursed for damage or loss. 3. The minimum accumulative value that is reimbursable, at any one time with receipts, is $25. Items that have administrator pre-approval for classroom use and have been personally purchased, that are damaged or destroyed by a student, are reimbursable up to $1000.00. All requests for reimbursements must have receipts. 4. The District will continue its practice of reimbursing for damage to automobiles when the damage is the District's fault. 5. The District will provide a secure and lockable location or container for teacher/licensed professionals to use. Efforts will be made to make this space available within the teacher/licensed professional's workspace or a reasonably close proximity.

Property Damage/Loss. The District shall reimburse bargaining unit members for loss of or damage to personal property, including automobiles while on District property or while performing District duties, not to exceed $2,000.00.

In regard to DISTRICT equipment assigned to employees, employees agree to: 1) Prevent the theft of the item by locking it up and keeping it out of sight when not in use. 2) Notify program coordinator immediately if the equipment ceases to operate properly, has lost or missing parts, or is lost or stolen. 3) Assume financial responsibility for repair or replacement if the equipment is damaged as a result of neglect or carelessness (see descriptive examples). 4) Submit a copy of a filed police report in the event of theft. 5) Descriptive examples: Staff will not be responsible under the following conditions: At school when the: • Equipment is kept within the employee’s designated office/work area (including the ESD). • Portable equipment is locked up or stored out of sight when the employee’s work in the area is complete. At home when the: • Equipment is not in use, it is kept out of sight within doors to the employee’s home. In the employee’s car when the: • Equipment is locked in a place that is not visible from the outside. • Equipment is in the employee’s car out of sight in a locked garage. Staff may be responsible for replacement/repair under the following or similar conditions: At school when the: • Equipment is visible, accessible and unmonitored by a staff person. • Equipment is not locked up or stored out of sight. At home when the: • Equipment is visible when not being used or left out and visible overnight. • Door/Garage where equipment is stored is not locked overnight or when staff member is not home. In the employee’s car when the: • Equipment is left in an unsecured car.
