Provisions for Sick Leave. Short Term Leave and Disability Plan (STLDP): Shall be in accordance with Part A, Central Terms, Article 3 of this Collective Agreement and as follows:
Provisions for Sick Leave. Sick leave means the period of time a Teacher is absent from work by virtue of his/her personal illness or injury. Medical appointments that could not be reasonably scheduled outside of work hours are eligible for the Sick Leave.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, where a teacher participates in the Long Term Disability Plan, during any one illness the employee may use sick leave credit, if accumulated, only to the end of the waiting period required by the Long Term Disability Plan or days whichever comes first. If, because of absence, a teacher's cumulative sick leave credit has been reduced, it may be built up again in subsequent years. Every teacher who is absent because of sickness shall notify principal or the Board office of absence and of the probable date of return. The Board may require a teacher to submit a certificate from a qualified medical or dental practitioner to justify an absence, due to illness, of three or more consecutive days, or for any shorter period, if in the opinion of the Director such action is necessary. The certificate from a qualified medical or dental practitioner described in above, shall be in the form supplied to the teacher by the Board. The teacher shall take the form to the medical practitioner of choice. The Board shall grant leave of absence, without loss of salary or deduction from sick leave credit, in the following circumstances: Leave of absence without loss of pay or reduction of sick leave, shall be granted to a maximum of five (5) working days in the case of the death of an immediate member of family for the purpose of arranging for and attending at the funeral. Immediate member of the family shall mean: spouse, parent, parent-in-law, brother, sister or child.
