Reduced Workload Leave. 10.16.1. The District may allow unit members to participate in a reduced workload program (“Program”) consistent with current applicable law, including assignment to a permanent substitute pool. (See Education code sections 22713; 44922). 10.16.2. Unit members must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to participate in the Program: 10.16.2.1 Unit members must be at least 55 years old and less than 65 years old prior to participating in the Program. Unit members participating in the Program who reach the age of 65 during a school year may continue participating through the end of that school year. 10.16.2.2 Unit members must have been employed full-time by the District in a certificated position for at least ten (10) years prior to participating in the Program. 10.16.2.3 During the period of time immediately preceding a unit member’s request to participate in the Program, he or she must have worked full-time in a certificated position with the District for a total of five(5) years with no break in service. For purposes of this paragraph, sabbaticals and other approved leaves of absence shall not constitute a break in service. 10.16.5.4 Unit members working in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade must not hold a position with a salary greater than any District principal. 10.16.3. Unit members may participate in the program for no longer than five (5) years. 10.16.3.1 The option to participate in the Program may be exercised only at the request of the unit member and can be revoked only with the mutual consent of the District and the unit member. 10.16.3.2 Unit members must notify the District no later than January 15 of their job share interest to begin participating in the Program the following school year. The original application will be signed by the immediate supervisor, the unit member and then submitted by the unit member, to the Superintendent Chief Learning Officer or designee, by January 15, for final recommendation to the Board of Trustees. Unit members allowed to participate in job shares must sign a job share agreement with the District by March 1. 10.16.3.3 At the end of the five (5) year period, or when a participating unit member reaches the age of sixty-five (65), whichever occurs first, the following options shall be available to him or her: 10.16.3.1.1. Reduced Workload Leave. 12.19.1 A reduced workload leave shall be granted annually to a permanent full- time employee, serving in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, to permit the employee to reduce a regular assignment to the equivalent of one-half of the number of hours required of full-time employment, provided all the following conditions are met: a. The employee shall submit a request annually to the ECRA Human Resources Office prior to April 15 for a leave to be effective during the following school year, and the total of such annual leaves shall not exceed ten years. b. The employee has reached age 55 prior to the school year during which the leave is effective. c. The employee was assigned full-time in a certificated position with ECRA for at least 10 school years of which the immediately preceding 5 school years were consecutive, full-time employment. Time spent on approved leaves shall not constitute a break in the 5 school year sequence, but shall not count toward the service requirement. d. An assignment and schedule satisfactory to both the employee and ECRA is agreed to. The continuing assignment must be either for half of each working day for the entire school year, in which case the specific assigned hours, must be agreed to by the employee and the immediate administrator, or for one complete semester of full- time service per year. A complementary partner with permanent status is required, or an appropriately credentialed auxiliary teacher approved by the site administrator. In the case of non-classroom, health and human services employees, the total number of approved leaves shall not exceed the maximum of 10% of the full-time equivalent positions in the classification. If the employee is assigned on other than the "C" basis, the leave shall be the equivalent of one- half of the number of hours of service required by the employee's current assignment basis. Exceptions to the above work schedules may be made in special circumstances. In any event, the assignment shall be for the equivalent of at least one-half of the number of hours required for full-time employment; and the employee shall be placed on leave from the location in which half-time service is performed. e. The employee agrees to have retirement contributions made based on the salary that would have been received had service been full- time for the complete school year. f.   • Employee Workload ‌ The Employer shall ensure that an employee’s workload is not unsafe as a result of employee absence(s). Employees may refer safety related workload concerns to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee for investigation under Article 22.3 (Occupational Health and Safety Committee).

  • EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR 9.1 The work year shall be as follows:

  • Paid Leave Contributions will continue whilst a member of a fund is absent on paid annual leave, sick leave, long service leave, public holidays, jury service, bereavement leave, or other paid leave.

  • Paid Leaves SECTION A At the beginning of the school year, each administrator shall be credited with ten (10) days sick leave per year for all administrators except the High School Principal, Chief Information Officer, Director of Facilities/Maintenance, and the Director of Adult Education who shall be credited with twelve (12) sick leave days per year, accruable to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days. Unused personal business leave days may be accrued at the rate of two (2) days per year to extend maximum sick leave accumulation to one hundred forty (140) days. If the administrator should become a teacher in the district, teacher sick leave policies will apply. SECTION B Up to five (5) days of accrued sick leave per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) may be used for the critical illness of a member of the administrator’s immediate family which shall be defined as the administrator’s spouse, child, parent, or any relative who is a permanent resident of the administrator’s household or is a dependent for tax purposes. Critical illness shall be defined as a serious emergency or life-threatening condition requiring the presence of the administrator. SECTION C An administrator may use up to four (4) days per fiscal year, not charged to sick leave, for personal business. These days shall not be accumulative except as indicated in Section A. The use of these days must be arranged in advance with the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. An administrator planning to use a personal business day at least three (3) days in advance, except in cases of emergency. Prior approval by the Superintendent is required for personal business days taken the day before or the day following a holiday or vacation or during the first five (5) or last five (5) days of the school year. SECTION D Each administrator will be granted five (5) days leave not charged to sick leave in the case of a death in the immediate family which shall be defined as parent, spouse, and child. Two (2) days not charged to sick leave, will be granted for the death of grandparents, grandchildren, and siblings (including in-law and step-relatives.) One (1) day, not charged to sick leave, may be granted by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the funeral of a person whose relationship to the administrator warrants such attendance. Additional days may be granted by the Superintendent. SECTION E Each fiscal year an administrator will be allowed one (1) professional day which may accumulate from year to year to a maximum of five (5) days. Subject to the prior approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, a professional day(s) may be used for any educational purpose. A written request shall be made at least five (5) days in advance of a planned professional day absence. SECTION F An administrator who is summoned and reports for jury duty, as prescribed by applicable law, shall receive regular compensation. Any compensation received for jury service (not to include expense reimbursement) shall be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel or his designee. Leave of absence with pay shall be granted for court appearances as a witness in any case in which the administrator’s connection with the case stems from his employment with the Board, provided that the legal action is not instigated by or on behalf of the administrator or Association against the Board. Any witness fee paid to the administrator shall be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. Worker’s compensation will be the exclusive remedy for any work-related injury or disability provided worker’s compensation is available.

  • Volunteer Firefighting Leave Leave without pay will be granted when an employee who is a volunteer firefighter is called to duty to respond to a fire, natural disaster or medical emergency.

  • Paid Maternity Leave Upon written request to the Chair/Xxxx/Director indicating the expected date of delivery, a female employee shall be entitled to paid maternity leave of up to seventeen thirty-fifths of the period of her Appointment Contract(s). Requests for Maternity Leave will be made as soon as practicable, and normally no later than one month before the intended start-date of the leave.

  • HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT 6.1 The employee shall be on duty at the school at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the beginning of the first student period. If assigned a pre-period, the employee must arrive 30 minutes prior to the pre-period. 6.2 Kindergarten teachers shall have the same school hours as other teachers in their school. 6.3 Middle school teachers shall have one (1) unassigned instructional period per day set aside for planning. This period shall be equivalent to one normal class period. 6.4 Elementary Art, Music, and PE teachers shall be provided 45 minutes a week of preparation time. 6.5 Every employee shall be entitled to one duty-free lunch period per day of not less than thirty (30) consecutive minutes. Each employee shall also be allowed two (2) relief periods (recesses) each day even when serving on yard duty. A preparation period is considered a relief period. 6.6 The unit member shall attend one faculty meeting each week if scheduled by the principal, and the employee shall be provided with an agenda prior to such meetings. Unit members may be permitted to place items on the agenda. One (1) day per week, unit members shall be required to attend until 4:45 p.m. if a meeting is called. These meetings may include minimum day in-service, faculty meetings and other meetings as prescribed by the administrator in charge. On the Wednesday preceding issuance of report cards/progress reports, unit members will be released from weekly faculty meetings to work on the issuance of such cards/reports. Unit members shall not be released from weekly faculty meetings on any week during which a non-instructional, teacher work day is scheduled. 6.7 Planning and preparation time shall be used for planning, preparation, and conferencing with parents, pupils and other teachers or administrators. 6.8 Employees shall participate in student extra-curricular activities, on a voluntary basis, such as student dances, music performances, athletic events, etc. If there are no volunteers, the principal will appoint staff members. In no event shall an employee be required to participate in more than two (2) extra-curricular assignments per year. It shall be the responsibility of the principal to allocate assignments in an equitable manner. 6.9 Employees shall participate in duties as assigned by the principal such as "Back to School Night" and "Open House” and “Kindergarten Orientation.” The District shall make every effort to schedule Open House on a minimum day so unit members will have a greater opportunity to prepare information and materials for meeting parents. The employee has the obligation to participate in meetings pertinent to but not limited to, parent-teacher conferences, principal–teacher conferences, 504 meetings, IEP meetings, and curriculum work. 6.10 During the hours of employment, employees shall perform those duties normally associated with certificated employees as assigned by the principal. To the extent possible, each site will set aside one or more days per month for IEP meetings. Certificated staff will be released from class during contract time to attend such meetings. Every effort will be made to schedule IEP meetings and 504 meetings during the school day. However, if parent, teacher, or service provider scheduling requires an after school meeting, a seven (7) calendar day advance notice will be given to all participants in the absence of exigent circumstances. 6.11 Certificated staff will be released from class during contract time to attend such meetings. There shall be a minimum day one (1) day per week to allow time after students are dismissed for working on such topics as planning, professional growth, curriculum planning and scheduling. At the beginning of each school year, each school site will designate one Wednesday in a month where there are at least four (4) Wednesdays for teacher determined use that will consist of collaboration with one or more colleagues. An agenda and minutes will be developed and provided to the school administrator. 6.12 Each school teacher grades TK-8 shall have the equivalent of ten (10) minimum days designated as parent conference days. 6.13 Hours of employment for part-time employees shall be assigned by the Human Resources Director after consultation with the employee and the principal and duties shall be pro- rated. 6.14 As long as the District funds classified positions, known as P.E. Specialists, it shall provide substitutes for P.E. Specialists when absent in order for classroom teachers to be provided preparation time. 6.15 If a TK-8th grade substitute is unavailable: 6.15.1 Another teacher may voluntarily cover the class during their preparation time and be paid their pro-rated per diem rate of pay. 6.15.2 A part-time or job share teacher may substitute during non-contract time and be paid their pro-rated per diem rate of pay. If a job share teacher substitutes for their partner teacher, then the pay is per diem (pro rated if not a full day). 6.15.3 If a teacher takes another teacher’s students in addition to their own class, the teacher will receive the hourly rate of pay pursuant to Article 3.16 per hour for the number of hours the class is with them. This applies when taking at least 7 of the students in a teacher’s class.

  • Term and Maximum Compensation 1.4.1. The term of this CONTRACT is for three (3) years, commencing upon Board of Supervisor approval, with a maximum allowable compensation of one million, five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000), with the option to renew for two (2) additional years, with Board approval; except as permitted in Paragraph 1.5 below.

  • Xxxx Leave For laid off employees, sick leave accruals shall remain on the books and be reinstated if such employees are reappointed. Whenever a person becomes ineligible for reemployment, and such person has not been re-employed, then, if at the point of layoff such person was eligible to receive a sick leave accrual payoff, such person shall be paid for existing sick leave accruals in accordance with Section 1408 of this Agreement.

  • Study Leave Credits for study leave will be given for educational commitments falling due between an employee's nominated starting and finishing times.
