Reduced Workload Program. 19.1 Reduced teaching Load with Full Retirement Credit (EC 87483): The Board of Trustees may permit full-time faculty members to reduce their workload from full-time to part-time and have their retirement benefits based upon full-time employment. Following are the rules and regulations for the implementation of the optional reduced load program with full retirement credit. 19.1.1 The option of reduced load may be exercised upon mutual agreement of both the District and the faculty member. Once the option is exercised, it is not revocable unless agreed to by the Board of Trustees and the faculty member. 19.1.2 To be eligible to start the optional reduced load program, the faculty member must be fifty-five (55) years of age before the beginning of the academic semester in which the reduction in workload starts. 19.1.3 The faculty member must have been employed full-time (100%) as an academic employee of the Santa Xxxxxx College District for at least ten (10) years prior to the request for reduced load, including five (5) years immediately preceding the reduction in workload. 19.1.4 Except for the reduction in salary, corresponding to reduced load, the District will provide the faculty on reduced load the same benefits provided a regular full-time (100%) academic member. 19.1.5 The District and the faculty member shall agree to make contributions to the State Teachers Retirement System equal to the amount required of a full-time (100%) instructor. 19.1.6 The minimum reduced load shall be the equivalent of one-half (1/2) of the number of days of service required by the faculty’s contract of employment during the final year of service as a full-time position. 19.1.7 A faculty member on the optional reduced load program upon mutual agreement with the District as a minimum shall work: a) 100% of one semester and 0% of the other; b) 50% each semester; or c) any assignment that will average 50% or more for two (2) semesters of the academic year. 19.1.8 An applicant for the optional reduced load program must make application for the program no later than February 1 for the following academic year. 19.1.9 Faculty under this program may be granted intersession assignments as recommended by the department chair through the regular scheduling process described in Article 9. 19.1.10 Faculty members may only return to a regular full-time teaching position with the approval of the Board of Trustees.
Reduced Workload Program. Definition 18.1 Each full-time faculty employee who meets the requirements of this article may reduce his or her contract from full-time to percent of contract while maintaining his or her retirement benefits pursuant to Education Code Sections 22713 and 87483 or Government Code Section 20900. A “reduced contract” is an annual load that is less than 100 percent but at least 50 percent of a full annual load.
Reduced Workload Program. Unit Members may participate in the Reduced Workload Program as set forth in this Article. The Reduced Workload Program allows a full-time faculty member of CalSTRS to reduce his/her workload from full-time to part-time duties and receive the service credit the Unit Member would have received if the Unit Member were employed on a full-time basis and have his/her retirement allowance as well as health benefits in the same manner as if employed on a full-time basis. It is the intent of the parties that this program be carried out in compliance with Education Code Section 87483. 16.1.8.1 In order to participate in this program, Unit Members may apply for partial employment for no more than one (1) year immediately preceding final retirement and meet the following requirements: 16.1.8.1.1 The Unit Member must have been a full-time faculty member of the District for at least nine (9) years of which the immediately preceding five (5) years were full-time employment without a break in service as defined by the State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS). Sabbatical and other approved leaves of absence shall not constitute a break in service period. Time spent on sabbatical or other approved leaves of absence shall not be used in computing the five (5) year full-time service requirement pursuant to Education Code §87483. 16.1.8.1.2 The Unit Member must be at least 55 years of age when beginning the program. 16.1.8.1.3 At the time of electing to be partially employed, the Unit Member must submit a letter requesting his/her full retirement and agreeing to terminate services with the District at the conclusion of the pre-retirement program. This Agreement of full retirement and termination shall be non-revocable except at the discretion of the Board. 16.1.8.1.4 The minimum assignment shall be one-half the number of days of service required by the Unit Member's yearly contract for the last year of full- time employment. 16.1.8.1.5 The Unit Member shall be paid a salary which is the prorata share of the salary he/she would be earning had he/she not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment. 16.1.8.1.6 Unit Members participating in the program may be assigned, in consultation with the Xxxx, any schedule that results in the Unit Member working, at the option of the Unit Member, a minimum of 50 percent of the number of days of service for that academic year. Reduced Workload Program. An academic employee will be allowed to reduce his or her workload from full-time to part-time pursuant to Education Code section 87483 and to maintain retirement benefits pursuant to Education Code section 22713 or Government Code section 20815. Statutory requirements are as follows: The employee shall have reached the age of 55 prior to the reduction of his or her workload; The employee shall have been employed in an academic position or a position requiring certification qualification, or both, for at least 10 years, of which the immediately preceding five years were full-time employment without a break in service, except as provided by Education Code section 87483(c); The option of part-time employment shall be exercised at the request of the employee and can be revoked only with the mutual consent of the District and the employee; The employee shall be paid a salary that is the pro rata share of the salary he or she would be earning had he or she not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment; The employee shall retain all other rights to and benefits for which he or she makes the payments that would be required had he or she remained in full-time employment; The employee shall receive health benefits as provided in Government Code section 53201 in the same manner as a full-time employee; The minimum part-time employment shall be the equivalent of one- half of the number of days of service required by the employee’s employment during his or her final year in a full-time position; The period of part-time employment for an employee who is subject to Education Code section 22713 shall not exceed 10 years; and The period of part-time employment for an employee who is subject to Government Code section 20815 shall not exceed 5 years and shall not extend beyond the end of the college year during which the employee reaches his or her 70th birthday.

Reduced Workload Program. 11.1 In accordance with provisions of Education Code Section 87483, faculty may, when approved by the District, reduce their workload from full-time to part-time and receive credit for retirement as if employed on a full-time basis, if the following conditions are met: a. The employee has reached the age of 55. b. The employee has been employed full-time in a position requiring certification for at least 10 years in the Santa Xxxxxxx Community College District of which the immediately preceding five years were full-time employment c. The minimum part-time employment is the equivalent of one-half of the number of days of service required by the employee's contract of employment during their final year of service in a full-time position. d. The employee intends to retire within three years 11.2 The option of part-time employment to be credited for retirement, as if employed full-time, may be exercised only at the request of the employee and may be revoked only with the mutual consent of the Board of Trustees and the employee. 11.3 Part-time employment credited for retirement, as if employed full-time, shall be limited to a period of three years. 11.4 During the period the employee works with a reduced workload credited for retirement as if employed full-time, the District shall do the following: a. Pay the employee a salary which is the pro rata share of the salary they would be earning had they not elected to exercise the option of part time employment, and continue all other rights and benefits for which the employee makes payments that would be required if they remained in full-time employment. b. Provide benefits for the employee in the same manner as for full-time employees. c. In addition to its regular STRS contribution for a full-time employee, the District pays a stipend to the employee equal to the difference between the STRS contribution proportional to the employee’s reduced actual workload percentage and the amount the employee would have contributed if they were employed on a full-time basis d. Maintain the necessary records to separately identify each employee receiving credit pursuant to this policy 11.5 The participating employee shall sign a Reduced Workload Program Agreement outlining the terms and conditions of participating in the Reduced Workload Program.
Reduced Workload Program. 18.1 Each full-time faculty employee who meets the requirements of this article may reduce his or her contract from full-time to percent of contract while maintaining his or her retirement benefits pursuant to Education Code Sections 22713 and 87483 or Government Code Section 20900. 18.2 To be eligible for a pre-retirement reduction in contract under this article the faculty employee must have: 18.2.1 Reached the age of 55 prior to the reduction in contract; 18.2.2 Been employed full-time in a faculty position requiring membership in an appropriate California state retirement system for at least ten years; 18.2.3 Have served five years in the District immediately preceding the reduction in full-time employment without a break in service, with the final three years (of these immediately preceding five years of full-time employment) in a faculty position. For purposes of this section, an approved leave of absence shall not constitute a break in service. However, an unpaid leave of absence shall not count towards the five years of full-time service required by this section. 18.3 This article shall be applicable only to faculty employees who request reduction in contract and meet the criteria established by Section 18.
