Substitute Pool. A list shall be maintained of the classification (other than the employee's own regular classification) in which a regular contract employee has an interest in working on an as needed basis. The member of the sub-pool must meet minimum qualifications for the position based on job descriptions as reviewed by the superintendent. Employees may sign up on the list before the first day of student attendance in the fall and the first day of the second semester. This substitute pool list shall have preference for as-needed work on a rotation seniority (number of years employed in the district) basis, unless assigning substitute work will result in overtime status for the employee or unless there is less than twenty-four (24) hours notice of the need, in which case the superintendent may use someone off the pool list or someone outside the bargaining unit. Participation in the sub pool cannot interfere with normal duty. If no one on the list accepts an offer of as-needed work, a substitute outside the unit may be used. For as-needed work, those on the substitute pool list shall be paid the zero experience rate for the classification of the work. The maximum hours that a sub pool member may work is 40 hours in a week.
Substitute Pool. If any certificated employee in the employment pool desires to be considered for substitute work, he or she shall advise the Board in writing. Any such employee shall then be placed in a substitute pool with first priority for substitute work for which they are deemed competent under the criteria herein.
Substitute Pool. In the event there are more unit members district wide than called for in this CBA for one or more curricular areas, the District may establish a pool of substitutes formed of unit members who will do day-to-day substituting in lieu of having a regular class assignment.
A. Once it is clear that there is an overage of unit members in a particular curricular area, volunteers shall be sought from among the unit members district wide who would be willing to become substitutes in lieu of having a regular class assignment and whose assignment as a substitute would diminish the overage. If an insufficient number of volunteers come forward to cure the overage, assignments shall be made in accordance with applicable portions of Section III above. Section VI above shall not apply to substitute pool transfers.
B. Unless otherwise agreed, unit members who are in the pool of substitutes shall be assigned substitute duties in accordance with the following preference guidelines: First The unit member’s regularly assigned school in his/her curricular area of expertise for a long-term assignment.
Substitute Pool. A pool of one substitute day per building Employee will be funded for building planned staff development, activities and field trips. This allocation could be used for activities conducted in two (2) or four (4) hour blocks outside the school day paid at the Employee’s per diem rate per hour. The allocation for building substitutes will be added to each building’s general budget and used as equitably as possible amongst staff for professional development.
Substitute Pool. A program administered to support the recruitment, training, and placement of substitutes in family child care and child care centers.

Section 26.1 Subject to the terms and conditions set forth below, the Employer and Union agree that the Employer shall have the right to utilize a substitute pool of substitute employees (“substitutes”), so long as said employment does not supplant bargaining unit positions. It is recognized and agreed that persons employed as substitutes are not members of the bargaining unit and as such, except where specifically provided in this Agreement, shall not be subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Substitute Employees shall not be hired to fill Regular Full- Time or Part-Time positions without applying for the position through the normal hiring process. No regular positions shall be supplanted by a Substitute Employee on an ongoing basis, nor shall Substitute Employees deprive any Regular Employees of hours of work or job benefits.
Section 26.2 Substitute Employees may be used when intermittent assistance is necessary or to fill an absence of an employee, scheduled or unscheduled.
Substitute Pool. OCFS agrees to establish a committee with representatives from the Unions to discuss the feasibility of establishing mechanisms to enable an assistant, substitute, or volunteer who is already cleared to work with one family or group family day care provider to also be used as a substitute for one or more other family or group family day care home providers.
Substitute Pool. There shall be established a Substitute Pool made up of forty (40) people. The pool shall be established and maintained as follows:
1. The purpose of the Substitute Pool is to provide a work force for filling any or all absences, short-term leaves, vacations, and temporary assignments. Substitutes shall not be used in the following classifications: Utility, Mechanic, Dispatcher, Parts Clerk, Xxxxxx, Mail Carrier, and Warehouse.
a. Mail Carrier: If these positions are filled, they shall first offer to afternoon employees from the Xxxxxx/PRC complex. Should the position remain open, then substitutes may be used.
b. Warehouse: If these positions are filled, they shall be first offered to employees on the afternoon shift from the Career Center/Board Annex Complex. Should the position remain open, then substitutes may be used.
2. A substitute shall be permitted to work as outlined above and can be scheduled Sunday through Saturday, up to eight (8) hours per day, and no more than forty (40) hours per week.
3. Substitute employees may only be used on summer crews after permanent employees have had the opportunity to preference for crew assignments. Crew assignments will be determined by the District.
4. Substitute employees on long short term leaves (Workers’ Comp., medical leave, other leaves in excess of thirty (30) calendar days, etc.) shall be replaced on the substitute list. The District shall not have more than thirty (30) calendar days subsequent to the return of said employee to adjust the Sub Pool number back to the contractual limit.
5. The Xxxxxx School District will not replace with a substitute any Division A employee who has been laid off.
6. Substitutes may be used for field trips from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (schedule time of return) Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday field trips shall be assigned to permanent drivers. Unforeseen emergencies and inclement weather may cause exceptions to these conditions.
