SICK LEAVE Use and Accrual of Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be granted for personal illness, non-compensable bodily injury or disease, and for absence because of enforced quarantine. The City may require sufficient proof for use of sick leave. The City will not normally require a doctor’s certificate for absences of four (4) shifts or less, except in cases of suspected abuse. If the City makes a request for a doctor’s certificate, it shall be made within thirty (30) minutes of the employee calling in to book off sick. The employee shall remain at the phone number from which they made the call to book off sick for thirty (30) minutes and shall give the person to whom they call the number of the phone, if not the normal home phone number. If the employee is too sick to stay by the phone for the thirty (30) minute period, said employee will be required to prove same through medical certification. Sick leave shall be granted only if the requirements of these provisions are complied with and the employee reports the illness in accordance with the rules of the Fire Department, except where sufficiently extenuating circumstances exist. Effective July 1, 1991, each employee shall be credited with the amount of sick leave they earned as of July 1, 1991. Thereafter, forty-two (42) hour per week employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) shifts (nine (9) hours) per month to a maximum of fifteen (15) shifts (ninety (90) hours) per fiscal year and forty (40) hour per week employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of one and two-tenths (1.2) shifts (twelve (12) hours) per month to a maximum of twelve (12) shifts (one hundred twenty (120) hours) per fiscal year. Employees hired on or before July 1, 1996, shall accumulate unused sick leave from fiscal year to fiscal year without restriction. Effective January 9, 2017 (approval date of the 2016-2020 Agreement), employees hired after July 1, 1996 but before January 9, 2017 shall accumulate unused sick leave from fiscal year to fiscal year to a maximum of two hundred and fifty (250) days. Employees hired on or after January 9, 2017, shall accumulate unused sick leave from fiscal year to fiscal year to a maximum of eighty (80) days. Xxxx leave will be charged only for actual scheduled shifts not worked and reported as sick leave.

  • Accrual of Sick Leave a. A full-time employee shall accrue four (4) hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period, or the number of hours that are directly proportionate to the number of days worked during less than a full-pay period, without limitation as to the total number of hours that may be accrued.

  • Sick Leave Use Sick leave will be charged in one-tenth (1/10th) of an hour increments and may be used for the following reasons:

  • Utilization of Sick Leave with Pay Temporary employees who have earned sick leave credits in their temporary appointment shall be eligible for sick leave for any period of absence from employment due to any of the following reasons: • illness; • bodily injury; • disability resulting from pregnancy; • necessity for medical or dental care; • if the employee is a victim of domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault, or stalking; or the parent or guardian of a minor child or dependent who is a victim of domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault or stalking, pursuant to ORS 659A.270 through 659A.290; • attendance at an employee assistance program; • exposure to contagious disease; • for the emergency repair of personal assistive devices which are medically necessary for the employee to perform assigned duties; • attendance upon members of the employee’s or the employee’s spouse’s immediate family, or the equivalent of each for domestic partners, (parent, wife, husband, children, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, or another member of the immediate household) where the employee’s presence is required because of illness or death; • parental leave. The employee has the duty to insure that they make other arrangements, within a reasonable period of time, for the attendance upon children or other persons in the employee’s care. Certification of an attending physician or practitioner may be required by the Agency to support the employee’s claim for sick leave if the employee is absent in excess of seven (7) days, or if the Agency has evidence that the employee is abusing sick leave privileges. The Agency may also require such certificate from an employee to determine whether the employee should be allowed to return to work where the Agency has reason to believe that the employee’s return to work would be a health hazard to either the employee or to others. (See Section 4 for FMLA and OFLA.)

  • Accrual of Vacation Leave a. Eligible employees hired or rehired and working on a full-time permanent basis shall earn vacation leave based on months of service at the following rates for each pay period: HOURS PER MONTHS SERVICE PAY PERIOD ACCRUED 0-24 3.08 25-96 4.62 97-180 5.54 181 and over 6.15

  • Utilization of Sick Leave Employees who have accrued paid leave time shall be eligible for paid leave for any period of absence from employment which includes but is not limited to the employee’s illness; injury; temporary disability; medical or dental care; or to attend to members of the employee’s or the employee’s spouse’s immediate family or domestic partner or domestic partner’s immediate family, where the employee’s presence is required because of illness or as otherwise required by the state or federal Family Medical Leave Act or other State law. The Employer may, in its sole discretion, require reasonable proof of illness or disability and/or certification of the necessity of the employee’s absence.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave Usage A. Sick leave may be used for an employee or an employee's child, spouse or parent's illness or injury, hospitalization and appointment pertaining to health.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave 16.1 Employees covered by this collective agreement will carry forward their accumulated sick leave days from the predecessor school boards to a maximum of 280 days. Effective September 1, 1999 employees (other than temporary employees) shall be credited with two (2) days of sick leave for each month of active full time service to a yearly maximum of 20 days for ten month employees. Effective September 1, 2003 100% of the unused days each year are accumulated, to a possible sick leave total of three hundred (300) days. Sick leave days will be pro-rated for part-time employment.

  • Sick Leave Accrual Full-time employees will accrue eight (8) hours of sick leave in a calendar month. Part- time employees will accrue sick leave credit on the same proportional basis that their employment schedule bears to a full-time schedule, up to a maximum of eight (8) hours in a calendar month.
