Special Discretionary Leave. The Commissioner may grant Special Leave on Pay to an employee without affecting their other leave entitlements or continuity of service for reasons including; compassionate grounds, or participation in cultural activities or sporting competitions (maximum of 20 days per year) as representatives of NZ at international level. Employees may be required to take other leave or TOIL in conjunction with any special leave granted. Any request for Special Leave on Pay should be submitted through the employee’s District Commander/National Manager to DCE: People for consideration.
Special Discretionary Leave. 4.9.1 An employee may apply for leave without pay and the employer will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests. Each application will be considered according to its merits with a decision made taking account of the circumstances of the individual as made known to the employer and the operational needs of the employer.

  • Parental Leave/Adoption Leave An employee will be granted unpaid parental leave for a period up to and including thirty-five (35) weeks, upon request and verification of:

  • Advanced Sick Leave a. Employees who are incapacitated for the performance of duties because of serious disability or ailment may request advance sick leave not to exceed two hundred and forty (240) hours. These two hundred and forty (240) hours of sick leave may be advanced to an employee with a medical emergency related to the adoption of a child, for family care or bereavement purposes, or to care for a family member with a serious health condition.

  • Military Leave An employee will be granted unpaid Military Leave in accordance with the Employment Standards Act. The employee will give as much notice as is reasonably possible and will provide a copy of the Military Notice when received.

  • Military Leave of Absence Upon application, a military leave of absence without pay will be granted to employees who are inducted through Selective Service or voluntary enlistment, or those called through membership in the National Guard or reserve component into the Armed Forces of the United States. Credited service for military service shall be determined by the retirement plan.
