Stand-By Drivers. The Contractor shall maintain no less than ten percent (10%) of drivers as stand-by drivers each and every day for a.m., mid-day and p.m. routes. Stand-by drivers should be the most capable and experienced drivers and must have no less than two (2) years consecutive experience as a bus driver assigned to MPS contracts. Contractors that are awarded athletic and/or after school activity service shall be required to have an additional 2 percent of stand-by drivers, for a total of twelve percent (12%) stand-by drivers. Contractors may not count Field Supervisors or dispatch staff as stand-by drivers. Contractors must ensure that stand-by drivers are dispatched in a timely manner to insure that all bus stops are picked up on time. Failure to maintain an adequate staff of stand-by drivers may result in cancellation of route(s).

Contractors may not count Field Supervisors (see Section G-42) or dispatch staff as stand-by drivers. Stand-By Drivers will cover Category I. These drivers shall be forty (40) hours per week and guaranteed eight (8) hours per day. These drivers will be assigned two extra work day assignments (i.e., midday and/or late run) identified on the posting prior to bidding. These drivers shall make themselves available for all (40) hours per week that they are assigned. There will be three (3) categories of stand-by drivers; drivers assigned to 500 Xxxxxx Xxxx, 1019 E. Chicago St. and flex stand-by drivers. Flex stand-by drivers will be assigned daily based on the needs of the operation. The number of stand-bys at each location will be determined by the number of routes at each location. Flex stand-by drivers will report to 500 Shales Pkwy and will be transported to 1019 E. Chicago St. if needed. All stand-by drivers will have a morning punch in time of 5:30 am and punch out time of 9:30 am and an afternoon punch in time of 12:30 pm and punch out time of 4:30pm. Open runs which are known by the Route Manager prior to 5:15 am will be assigned by seniority with - most senior and most hours to be assigned first. This category shall also include bargaining unit members performing non-driving duties but who are used as “last out” stand-by drivers.
Stand-By Drivers. A. A Stand-by Driver's position shall be filled in accordance with Article 11, Sections A and B. Fringe benefits shall be paid according to the terms of the Agreement.
Stand-By Drivers. A. Stand by drivers, while operating regular runs or charters, shall be accorded all pay rates and conditions enjoyed by regular unit members.

Stand-By Drivers. CONTRACTOR shall provide sufficient regular CHP certified stand-by drivers on a daily basis. Stand-by drivers shall constitute a minimum of and, in any event, not less than ten percent (10%) of the total number of regularly scheduled drivers, including County drivers. These stand-by drivers are to report to work on a schedule set by the CONTRACTOR and approved by SMCOE's Director, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation or designee to assure that routes will not be missed because of late or absent drivers. In addition to the foregoing requirements, no relief, stand-by or newly assigned regular driver shall be dispatched on a route under this Agreement without being fully trained by the CONTRACTOR in the use of any and all equipment needed to safely transport the students transported under this Agreement on the route. Each driver must receive a full orientation by the CONTRACTOR as to the type of student and/or conditions to be expected on the route, special problems and a review of the route sheet. All personnel must review and are expected to follow all applicable County Office Administrative Regulations and policies and procedures.

All drivers are to be provided with appropriate training and refresher courses each year in the following areas as a minimum: * Proper use of equipment including communications equipment; * Defensive driving; * Emergency and accident procedures; * Identifying unusual passenger behavior; * Student harassment and bullying; * Conducting evacuation drills; * Sensitivity training in working with disabled persons; * Human relation skills in working with parents, school staff, etc; * General vehicle maintenance and pre-trip inspections; and * Map reading and city street coordinates. The Department of Business and Transportation Services may review Contractors’ bus driver training program, upon request.
