Teaching Releases. The University will provide the Faculty Association with teaching releases for academic staff members equal to nine (9) courses per academic year. One additional teaching release will be provided each semester during active collective bargaining negotiations for the Chief Negotiator of the University of Xxxxxx Academic Staff Members bargaining group. Should an academic staff member be the Chief Negotiator during active collective bargaining negotiations for the University of Xxxxxx Administrative, Professional, and Technical bargaining unit, the Faculty Association may, at its discretion, use a teaching release for this collective bargaining activity. With the approval of the Xxxx, the Faculty Association may purchase additional teaching releases on behalf of academic staff members who are elected to Association positions. Academic staff members shall discuss potential arrangements for teaching releases with their Xxxx, prior to making commitments that require teaching releases. In the case of an academic staff member whose normal duties do not include teaching, equivalent relief shall be provided.

Teaching releases for academic staff members (excluding sessionals) shall be provided as the member’s choice of either: • release time; or • payment in lieu of release time in the form of an overload stipend. Teaching releases for sessional members shall count as a taught course for the purposes of calculating maintenance of preference status, and the achievement and maintenance of priority status. With the approval of the Xxxx, the Faculty Association may purchase additional teaching releases on behalf of academic staff members who are elected to Association positions; such requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Academic staff members shall discuss potential arrangements for teaching releases with their Xxxx, prior to making commitments that require teaching releases. In the case of an academic staff member whose normal duties do not include teaching, equivalent relief shall be provided.

  • Teaching Loads 1. The District will attempt to maintain balanced class sizes within buildings at all levels.

  • TEACHING CONDITIONS The parties recognize that the availability of optimum school facilities for both student and teacher is desirable to insure the high quality of education that is the goal of both the teacher and the Board. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed at insuring that the energy of the teacher is primarily utilized to this end.

  • Teaching Load Full teaching assignments shall normally include 12 course credit hours of scheduled teaching per academic quarter. A reassignment of duty, for the equivalent of 3 or 4 credit course, shall be provided during one term of the first academic year to all newly hired tenure track faculty to further their teaching, scholarship and service and to encourage faculty retention. Wherever possible the University will endeavor to arrange teaching schedules that avoid excessive numbers of preparations and recognize evening and/or off-campus assignments. Class sizes will be established and monitored by the appropriate academic xxxx in consultation with division chairs and affected faculty each term. The following equivalencies will be used in determining teaching assignments:

  • Teaching Assignments No employee shall be assigned to teach in a grade level and/or subject area not within the scope of his/her teaching certificate, except where a position within his/her certification is unavailable or when mutually agreed to by the affected employee and principal, or when determined necessary by the principal. Employees assigned to positions outside the scope of their certificates shall be assigned as soon as possible to positions for which they hold certification.

  • SAFETY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT A. The District and its employees shall be safety conscious in their conduct and actions and shall cooperate in the implementation of the District's safety program.

  • NON-TEACHING DUTIES The Board and the Association acknowledge that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide learning experiences and that his energies should be channeled into this responsibility to the fullest extent. Therefore, they agree:

  • Grades of Service The Parties shall initially engineer and shall monitor and augment all trunk groups consistent with the Joint Process as set forth in Section 14.1 of this Attachment.

  • Teaching Schedule Teaching schedules shall be established, if practicable, so that the time between the beginning of the first assignment and the end of the last for any one day does not exceed eight (8) hours.

  • Written Employee Jury Service Policy 1. Unless the Contractor has demonstrated to the County’s satisfaction either that the Contractor is not a “Contractor” as defined under the Jury Service Program (Section 2.203.020 of the County Code) or that the Contractor qualifies for an exception to the Jury Service Program (Section 2.203.070 of the County Code), the Contractor shall have and adhere to a written policy that provides that its Employees shall receive from the Contractor, on an annual basis, no less than five days of regular pay for actual jury service. The policy may provide that Employees deposit any fees received for such jury service with the Contractor or that the Contractor deduct from the Employee’s regular pay the fees received for jury service.
