Letters of Appointment once signed by the employee and returned to the Employer, shall be sent to the Union within 30 days. Within 1 week of the Employer’s receipt of the letter of acceptance from the successful Applicant, the Employer will indicate on the postings website that the position has been filled.

Letters of Appointment. Letters of appointment of members shall be issued by the President or designate. Such letters of appointment shall be consistent with the articles of this Agreement, and shall include: (a) Rank; (b) Department or program or library affiliation; (c) Category of appointment; (d) Date of commencement of appointment; (e) Salary; (f) Term of the appointment in the case of a probationary appointment or limited term appointment; (g) A general statement of the regular duties and responsibilities pertaining to the position to which appointment is made; (h) If the appointment is of a part-time member, the specified proportion of full-time employment required by the regular duties and responsibilities of the appointee; (i) In the case of probationary appointments, a copy of the written specific standards for the application of the tenure criteria or permanency criteria (III.7.4 or III.10.4); and, (j) A copy of this Agreement.
Letters of Appointment. Rights and benefits of faculty members set forth in this Agreement shall be assimilated into and made part of any letter of appointment. In the event of conflict between the terms of a letter of appointment and the terms of this Agreement, the Agreement shall be controlling. This Agreement shall be referred to in letters of appointment issued to faculty members.

All full-time appointments shall be made by a standard letter signed by the Xxxxxxx and Vice-President, Academic or their designate which shall include the following information: i. dates of commencement and termination of appointment; ii. whether the appointment is of limited term, probationary or tenured; iii. if of limited term, the implications of this; iv. if probationary, the date when renewal, if applicable, will be considered and the date when the candidate can expect to be informed of the decision; v. salary; vi. rank; vii. reference to duties as outlined in Article 12 (Rights and Responsibilities of Members) and Article 24 (Workload for Faculty Members) or Article 25 (Workload for Professional Librarian Members) and a copy of the job description, if applicable; viii. reference to any additional educational qualification which the member must obtain, if applicable; ix. the assignment of a home campus; x. any other specific conditions of the offer of employment consistent with this Agreement that the Parties agree are appropriate in the particular case, if applicable; xi. credit for years of service and credit for years in rank at another university, or equivalent experience elsewhere, will be specified for the purposes of calculating eligibility for sabbatical leave, if applicable, and vacation entitlement for professional librarian members; xii. confirmation of the number of years of university service in a full-time limited-term, probationary and tenured/permanent position; xiii. research start-up funding, if applicable; xiv. reimbursement of moving expenses, if applicable; xv. salary increase upon completion of Ph.D., if applicable; and xvi. the link to the agreement. b. Letters of appointment shall not specify any criterion for reappointment other than those found in this Agreement.

Letters of Appointment. 13.4.1 At the time of initial appointment, a Bargaining Unit Faculty Member beginning a period of probationary tenure-track service shall be provided with a written statement outlining for the Member: • initial teaching responsibilities; • any special equipment or other special resources (including initial access to lab space) necessary for the Member’s research to be provided by the University; • reporting structure; • applicable departmental criteria for promotion and tenure; • maximum length of the probationary period. These items must be incorporated into the letter of appointment or attached to it. In addition, the letter of appointment must state that on accepting the offer and beginning employment as a tenure track faculty member, the candidate will be covered by this collective bargaining agreement. If the Member is to begin employment between January 1 and the end of the Spring Semester, the letter must include an explanation pursuant to Section 11.7.3. A copy of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and Department Bylaws will be provided with the letter of appointment or alternatively the letter will contain a web address with a link to the current CBA and Department Bylaws. AAUP-WSU will be provided with copies of all letters of appointment.
Letters of Appointment. The letter of offer of appointment from the Xxxx/University Librarian or designate to the prospective appointee shall set out the nature of the position being offered, including, to the degree possible, a job description covering the initial year of employment, and, where applicable, any special requirements that may be applied in determining the future movement of the appointee from pre-candidacy to candidacy and his/her application for tenure/continuing appointment or promotion (such as the completion of a degree or research in progress). Letters of offer shall stipulate whether or not the initial salary offer includes or specifically excludes any additional increments already negotiated or yet to be negotiated between the Association and the Employer, according to the appropriate version of text specified in Appendix H. The letter of offer shall enclose a copy of, and refer to, this Agreement. Letters of appointment from the Board of Governors shall specify the stream, classification, rank, duration (where applicable), and initial salary of the appointment.
