Term Faculty Members. 10.1.4.1 Term faculty members shall accrue up to a maximum of 261 full-time equivalent (FTE) days of service per fiscal year. Part-time service by such faculty members shall be pro-rated. 10.1.4.2 Seniority for term faculty members shall be calculated by multiplying the number of full-time equivalent duty days of service by such faculty members by the following ratio: 201 10.1.4.3 All auxiliary work done concurrent with and after a faculty member’s initial term appointment shall be counted as service for the purpose of seniority, subject to retention of seniority as per Article 10.2, (Accrual, Retention or Loss of Seniority). Such auxiliary service shall be pro-rated.

Term Faculty Members a) Term faculty members on annual appointments shall accrue vacation credit at the same rate as regular faculty members. Payment for vacation days accrued shall be adjusted to reflect the time status at which the days were accrued throughout the fiscal year. b) Other term faculty members shall not accrue vacation credit. Their per diem salary rate for their period of appointment is calculated to reflect an annual salary paid out over a 10-month assigned duty year.
Term Faculty Members. A term faculty member shall lose seniority as a term faculty member: (1) if a period of twenty-four (24) months elapses from the end date of the last term appointment, subject to Clause (4) below; (2) if discharged for just cause; (3) if voluntary termination of employment or abandonment occurs; (4) if a period of twenty-four (24) months elapses from the date of termination of WorkSafe BC wage loss and vocational rehabilitation benefits for a claim incurred while on the job at Vancouver Island University; (5) in the event that any of the circumstances in Article 12.3(a)(1), (2) and (4) occur.
Term Faculty Members. (i) For each year of service to the Employer, a term faculty member is entitled to one (1) increment on the salary scale until the maximum is attained. It is understood that a year's service is equivalent to 1.0 FTE (see Appendix I) worked (i.e. 1.000 increment credit) and at least one (1) calendar year since the start of service or date of last increment. An increment will be effective on the first day of the pay period following the date on which the year's service is reached. (ii) Any auxiliary hours worked by term or regular faculty members shall be recognized for incremental purposes.
Term Faculty Members. ‌ 5.3.1 Term faculty members whose appointments are for a full year shall be paid on the same basis as regular faculty members. 5.3.2 Term faculty members whose appointments are for less than a year and who are employed on a full-time or part-time basis, shall be paid on a term hourly rate according to Appendix I, (Salary Schedules) for each assigned duty hour worked for the appointment period. 5.3.3 When a term faculty member’s appointment is cancelled for any reason within the first 2 weeks after the initial start date of the appointment, the term faculty member will be compensated by being paid out at their step on the salary schedule in Appendix I, (Salary Schedule) for those hours they were scheduled to work within that first 2 week period.(See also Article 11.5, (Reduction Sequence)) 5.3.4 A term faculty member who obtains auxiliary work shall be paid at their term step rate for such work provided that: a) the faculty member currently holds a term appointment in the same area; or b) the faculty member previously held a term appointment in the same area, and the faculty member meets the current area hiring qualifications.
