Increment Credit. (a) For initial placement:
Increment Credit. An employee who is granted an extended leave of absence by the Board shall not receive increment credit for time spent on a leave granted pursuant to any section of this Article, except as mandated by an applicable law.
Increment Credit. For initial placement: Full increment credit will be granted for approved exchange teaching and appropriately certified full-time teaching experience acquired while employed in a public school system as defined in the appropriate legislation in Canada, the Commonwealth, and the United States, in any Canadian, Commonwealth or United States faculty of education or federal, provincial, or state ministry of education, in private schools in Canada which receive public funding under legislation similar to the Independent Schools Support Act of British Columbia. One increment will be recognized for every 10 FTE school months of teaching experience in schools described in Subsection (a)(1). The Society may recognize experience in addition to the teaching experience provided for in Subsection (a)(1) for the granting of increments. After initial appointment to the school, an increment will be granted for each 10 FTE school months of teaching at the school. The anniversary date on which an increment for teaching experience will be credited for all teachers is the first day of September.
Increment Credit. 1. Unless restricted by law or specified to the contrary elsewhere in this agreement, increments become effective the first teacher work day in Appendix D (Calendar) of each year and advancement under the salary schedule, which shall include advancement to a higher paying degree lane on the salary schedule, shall be automatic as of the beginning of each semester following completion of required academic or professional courses. All certified employees will be awarded master pay scale only if they possess a master's degree from a higher education institution with an accredited education program and in a subject area within East Xxxxxxx curriculum plan that is related to the teacher’s existing Michigan Department of Education certificate endorsement(s) or a new certificate endorsement for a subject area that is part of the curriculum. The sole exceptions to the foregoing are for employees who possess a teaching certificate with a counseling endorsement who have a masters degree in counseling and those employees with a masters degree in education leadership for which there is no teaching certificate endorsement.

Increments become effective September 1 of each year and advancement under the salary schedule, which shall include advancement to a higher salary scale, shall be automatic as of the beginning of each semester following completion of required academic or professional courses. All certified employees will be awarded Master pay scale only if they possess a Master's Degree and are assigned to teaching predominantly within the area of the Master's Degree major or attain one of the following appropriate Master's Degrees - Elementary Reading, Counseling, Elementary Curriculum, Elementary Education, Testing and Measurements, Education of Exceptional Children or any other subject matter of Elementary Curriculum - Secondary Reading, Counseling, Secondary Curriculum, Secondary Education, Testing and Measurements, Education of Exceptional Children. The Superintendent, with the concurrence of the local Association president, may grant credit on the Master’s pay scale if the teacher possesses a Master’s Degree in an education-related field not indicated above. However, said granting or denial shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.
Increment Credit. A teacher or secretary shall not receive increment credit for time spent on leave pursuant to paragraph D, E1 and E2 of this Article nor shall such time count toward fulfillment of time requirements for acquiring tenure. Tenured teachers shall be placed on the current salary guide at the next step to that at which they left, providing the teacher has taught for a total of one-half the school year during the year the leave occurs.
