Training of Hospital Personnel. Except for Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff, who are governed by paragraph 46 of this Agreement, Dominion Hospital will provide mandatory in-service training to all Hospital Personnel. The training will address the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing Patients and Companions and will include the following objectives: to promptly identify communication needs of Patients and Companions who are deaf or hard-of-hearing; to secure qualified interpreter services or video remote interpreting services as quickly as possible when necessary; and to use, when appropriate, flash cards and/or pictographs (in conjunction with any other available means of communication that will augment the effectiveness of the communication). Such training must be provided within ninety (90) days of the Effective Date of this Agreement, unless such training has been provided within the same calendar year of the Effective Date of this Settlement in accordance to Dominion Hospital’s training schedule. New employees must be trained within thirty (30) days of their hire. Self-study through the provision of the study material used during Hospital Personnel training and a screening of a video of the proper use of VRI equipment will suffice to meet this obligation. Training Attendance Records. Dominion Hospital will maintain for the duration of this Agreement, confirmation of training conducted pursuant to paragraphs 43-44 of this Agreement, which will include the names and respective job titles of the attendees, as well as the date and time of the training session. Training of Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff. Dominion Hospital will provide Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff a copy of its policy on the communication needs of Patients or Companions who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and will invite all Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff to reach out to the ADA Administrator(s) if they have questions about the policy. A cover letter provided with the policy, and delivered to each Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff’s physical on-site mailbox will reference its availability on the intranet and will request Active Members of the Hospital Medical Staff to notify Dominion Hospital of deaf and hard-of-hearing Patients and Companions as soon as they schedule admissions or other health care services offered at the Hospital, in the unlikely event that they become aware of such needs prior to the Hospital.
Training of Hospital Personnel. Except for affiliated physicians, who are governed by paragraph 42 of this Agreement, Xxxxx will provide mandatory in-service training to all Hospital Personnel. The training may be conducted via in-person seminars, videos, or through use of Xxxxx'x intranet program for continuing education (known as 'Health Stream'). The training will address the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing Patients and Companions and will include the following objectives: to promptly identify communication needs of Patients and Companions who are deaf or hard-of-hearing; to secure qualified interpreter services or video remote interpreting services as quickly as possible when necessary; and to use, when appropriate, flash cards and pictographs (in conjunction with any other available means of communication that will augment the effectiveness of the communication). Such training must be provided within one hundred eighty ( 180) days of the Effective Date of this Agreement. New Hospital Personnel must be trained within sixty (60) days of their hire date; provided, however, that Xxxxx shall have a minimum of 180 days from the Effective Date to complete an individual's training regardless of the individual's hire date.
Training of Hospital Personnel a. Personnel to Be Trained: YRMC will provide training to its employees, volunteers and affiliated physicians who have significant contact with Patients, families of Patients, and Companions. Training as provided by this Agreement will be provided to Therapists, Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Technologists, Social Workers, Chaplains, Emergency Department Staff Physicians; Department Directors, Nursing Supervisors, Senior Level Administrative Staff, Registration Clerks, Scheduling staff, Patient Representatives, Billing and Financial representatives, Case Managers, and Telephone Switchboard Operators.
Training of Hospital Personnel. Except for affiliated physicians, who are governed by paragraph 44 of this Agreement, AMH will provide mandatory in-service training to all Hospital Personnel. The training will address the needs of deaf and hard of hearing Patients and Companions and will include the following objectives:
a. to promptly identify communication needs of Patients and Companions who are deaf or hard of hearing.
b. to secure qualified interpreter services or VRI services as quickly as possible when necessary; and
c. to use, when appropriate, flash cards and pictographs (in conjunction with any other available means of communication that will augment the effectiveness of the communication). Such training must be provided within 90 days of the Effective Date of this Agreement.
Training of Hospital Personnel. Except for affiliated physicians, who are governed by paragraph 41 of this Agreement, the Hospitals will provide mandatory in-service training to all Hospital Personnel. St. Xxxxx will use best efforts to train independent contractors who work less than 20 hours per week exclusively for the Hospitals. The training will address the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing Patients and Companions and will include the following objectives: to promptly identify communication needs of Patients and Companions who are deaf or hard-of-hearing; to secure qualified interpreter services or video remote interpreting services as quickly as possible when necessary; and to use, when appropriate, flash cards and pictographs (in conjunction with any other available means of communication that will augment the effectiveness of the communication). Such training must be provided within one hundred twenty (120) days of the Effective Date of this Agreement. New employees must be trained within thirty (30) days of their hire. A screening of a video of the original training will suffice to meet this obligation.
Training of Hospital Personnel. A. Within ninety (90) days, and annually thereafter, the Hospital shall provide mandatory in-service training to Hospital Personnel identified immediately below with the following objectives: to inform them of the new procedures set forth in this Agreement; to inform them of the procedures that they should follow in order to arrange interpreter services or other auxiliary aids; and to educate Hospital Personnel on their obligations under this Agreement. Training shall also include information regarding (i) the differences between American Sign Language and English, and (ii) the limitations associated with lip-reading for many people who are deaf or hard of hearing:
a. Hospital Personnel with patient responsibility who work or volunteer in the Emergency Department;
b. Hospital Personnel with or likely to have patient responsibility, including, without limitation, the following categories and their equivalents: doctors, nurses, nurse’s aides, therapists, social workers, case managers, and medical technicians; and
c. Key personnel not otherwise trained as provided above, including: all clinical directors and nursing supervisors; all senior-level administrators; personnel who staff the Admission desk (or its equivalent for in-patient registration), the Central Registry desk (or its equivalent for out-patient registration), the General Information desk; all triage nurses and other triage professionals; administrative heads of each department in which communication with patients or their companions, families and friends is likely to occur; desk clerks in units or departments where such individuals are likely to have communications with patients or their companions, families and friends; and personnel responsible for billing and insurance issues who routinely interact with patients and their companions, families, and friends.
B. All Hospital Personnel who receive incoming telephone calls from the public shall receive special instructions on using TTY’s, Relay, and video relay to make and receive telephone calls via TTY, Relay, or Video Relay Services (VRS), and shall receive training generally on the existence of the requirements of this Agreement.

The training will address the needs of Patients and Companions who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and will include the following objectives: to promptly identify communication needs of Patients and Companions who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, including when an in-person Qualified Interpreter is necessary; to secure Qualified Interpreter services or VRI services as quickly as possible when necessary; to use, when appropriate, flash cards and/or pictographs (in conjunction with any other available means of communication that will augment the effectiveness of the communication); and how and when to use VRI services, including how to make and receive calls. Such training must be provided within ninety (90) days of the Effective Date of this Agreement, unless such training has been provided within the same calendar year of the Effective Date of this Settlement in accordance to Highline Medical Center's training schedule and annually thereafter. New employees must be trained in the same manner within thirty (30) days of their hire.
