Unpaid Administrative Leave of Absence. (All Regular Employees are Eligible):The Employer or designated representative may authorize an employee to take an administrative leave of absence, without pay or benefits, where such leave would benefit the employee or the Employer. Each request for administrative leave of absence will be considered on its individual merits. The Employer, with the understanding that its decision will in no way establish a precedent, will review the particular circumstances surrounding each request for a leave of absence. The decision of the Employer to grant or deny a leave of absence is final and not subject to the grievance procedure.

Unpaid Administrative Leave of Absence. The Employer may, within its sole discretion, authorize an employee to take an administrative leave of absence, without pay or benefits, where such leave would benefit the employee or Employer. Leaves of absence without pay or benefits up to one (1) year in duration may be granted upon written request from an employee to the Personnel Manager via the employee’s immediate supervisor. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.

  • Union Leave of Absence An employee on an unpaid Union leave of absence shall have her wages, benefits and seniority continued by the Employer, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for the costs of such wages and benefits. Employees requesting leave under this article will provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible of the dates of the leave. Where there are less than fifteen (15) regular employees at a workstation at the time the leave request is submitted, and subject to operational requirements, unpaid Union leave of absence will be granted to one employee for the purpose of conducting Union business.
