Voluntary Professional Development Sample Clauses
The Voluntary Professional Development clause outlines the terms under which employees may choose to participate in additional training or educational opportunities beyond those required by their employer. Typically, this clause clarifies that such participation is optional, may occur outside of regular working hours, and may not be compensated unless otherwise agreed. Its core function is to encourage ongoing learning while making clear that the employer is not obligated to provide time off or financial support for voluntary development activities, thereby setting expectations and avoiding misunderstandings about entitlements.
Voluntary Professional Development. For voluntary professional development requested by the District outside of the normal work day, teachers will be remunerated as follows:
i. An hourly rate as set forth in Article 7 Section N;
Voluntary Professional Development. Professional development that is not mandatory may be approved with or without reimbursement of expenses and tuition costs at the discretion of the City, and in accordance with FLSA. Such training, coursework, or meetings may be subject to other conditions and restrictions as the City in its discretion may specify. The employee shall be advised at the time of approval whether it shall be considered required or voluntary.
Voluntary Professional Development. Teachers who acquire additional relevant professional development shall keep a record of dates and sessions attended.
Voluntary Professional Development. Each year, five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), for Communication Technicians, will be allotted for expenses related to development and presentation of in-house training seminars and voluntary training related to public safety dispatching issues for members and/or for members to attend external public safety dispatching training seminars. The Communications Lieutenant and the supervisors will make every effort to assure all Communication Technicians have an equal opportunity to be made aware of, and be given the opportunity to request attendance at any training that is available. Attendance at training shall be allowed based on staffing needs.
Voluntary Professional Development. The Board will offer honoraria at the BA0 hourly rate for preapproved voluntary professional development. In the event an educator does not participate, the Board will provide professional development opportunities necessary to ensure educators suffer no professional disadvantage.

Unit members who, at District request, voluntarily attend a professional development workshop/in-service will be compensated for each seven (7) hour workshop/in-service they attend outside the normal work day and work year at a rate of three hundred and fifty dollars ($350.00) for each full day of attendance. Unit members who attend only part of a District assigned professional development workshop/in-service will receive pro rata pay.
