WORK DAY AND WORK YEAR. During the collaborative discussions utilizing the interest based bargaining model which resulted in a successor agreement, representatives of the parties reached consensus on several important issues concerning the need to more adequately respect the time constraints placed upon teaching professionals. More specifically, though the language of the Agreement broadly references an eight (8) hour day (“on the average”), there was recognition that teachers often work in excess of that, whether it be on campus or off.
WORK DAY AND WORK YEAR. 6.10.1 On-site shall be defined as the places where an Employee performs their professional duties. It may be a particular school where they are assigned and it may be other locations as dictated by the necessities of the job being performed. 6.10.2 Employees will not be assigned the following: 6.10.2.1 Activity supervision for which stipends are offered including chaperoning of evening dances; 6.10.2.2 Elementary bus loading, and bus and school patrol duties for which stipends are offered; 6.10.2.3 Custodian and secretarial duties normally performed by classified employees; and 6.10.2.4 Crowd control and admissions supervision where stipends are offered. The District does not intend to increase responsibilities of Employees in the areas noted above during this Contract. 6.10.2.5 Employees will not be assigned substitute duty as building level administrator. 6.10.2.6 The on-site work day will be continuous, with the exception of no more than two (2) school-wide evening events e.g. typically one fall event and one spring event or high school graduation. No evening or weekend mandatory assignments as part of the work day/week are required. On-site work day/hour requirements may be waived for off-site Employee activities. 6.10.2.7 Elementary recess will be scheduled daily for fifteen (15) minutes, Monday through Friday. 6.10.2.8 Appendix D of this Contract contains work year calendars for the next three work years. It is the intent of the parties to maintain a 3-year cycle of work calendars. Therefore, the parties will meet annually to develop the third (3rd) year work calendar.
WORK DAY AND WORK YEAR. The teacher work day shall be 7.5 hours in length. Teacher arrival and departure times shall be set by the Executive Director. On days before scheduled holidays, teachers may leave after the dismissal of the student body as long as the students in their care are provided for and their presence, as determined by the Executive Director, is not otherwise reasonably required. The parties recognize that the salaries set forth in this Agreement are based upon a teacher work year consisting of 186 days and 187 for new teachers. Prior to establishing the school calendar for any given the year, the School shall provide an opportunity for the Association to have input regarding the proposed calendar, with the understanding that the School shall have the right to establish the calendar. The School will notify teachers of the proposed calendar for the next employment year by close of the preceding school year.

They will be paid on an annual basis computed upon a 10 month school calendar (the student calendar plus one (1) day for orientation). Half-time Assistants will work a 3 1/2 hour day. b. Assistants will be expected to work with children as time allows (before, during and after school) or to conference with supervising teachers or building administrators. c. A fifteen minute break will be provided both morning and afternoon at the discretion of the teacher/principal who is arranging the work schedule.

If the Board of Education determines in its discretion to increase the work year beyond that described above, for each additional work day the Board of Education agrees to compensate teachers at the rate of a per diem, defined as 1/186th of the annual salaries provided in Appendices X-0, X-0 xxx X-0. X. Xxxxxxxx employed beyond the contracted days (186) shall be paid at the per diem rate of the teacher's appropriate step on the salary schedule. (See Appendix B) C. As part of their professional responsibility, teachers agree to accept assignments without additional compensation which involve them with students activities of a temporary nature. Such activities include, but are not limited to chaperoning dances, field trips and similar activities and similar assignments which have not previously been considered compensatory positions or duties. A list of activities will be posted by the principal or designee at the beginning of each school year. Teachers will select an area of participation or indicate what extracurricular activity he or she wishes to participate in for that year. Whenever possible, teacher preferences shall be considered; however, the Superintendent's decision on any assignment shall be final. D. The teacher work day will include all assignments made by the administration from fifteen minutes before the opening of school to fifteen minutes following the close of school. In addition, teachers are expected to be available for staff and other administrative meetings for a total of not more than an additional 90 minutes per week. The administration will use its best efforts to schedule such meetings at a time contiguous with the work day. E. The work year of employees who work beyond 186 days shall be established after the budget is established for that contract year. Secretaries in the Association are considered twelve (12) month 6 employees and their salaries are based upon a twelve (12) month position. Salaries 7 for secretaries who are not twelve (12) month employees shall be prorated for the 8 number of months (less than twelve (12)) which the secretary works per year. 9 2. Secretaries shall have a duty free consecutive thirty (30) minute break for lunch 10 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 11 3. Secretaries may leave the building during their duty-free lunch break. 12 4. If the district’s schools are closed for reasons of safety, such as weather conditions, 13 then the district’s schools are also closed for Association secretaries. 14 5. All secretaries, including those returning from leave, shall be informed in writing 15 of their tentative assignment and salary status no later than the date required by law.
