Workday for High School Instructional Teaching Staff i. Definition of a Learning Center: a. A Learning Center is a place for scholars to learn remotely. b. A place for scholars to have access to the internet, breakfast and lunch. c. Cohorts are defined as groups of students who will be attending their remote classes, in the same room. ○ Known siblings within Acero High Schools will be given preference to be placed in cohorts on the same days. ○ Cohorts will be scheduled based on school discretion with respect to siblings, grade, academic needs and either in Cohort A (Monday Tuesday), Cohort B (Thursday Friday) and/or in some cases Cohort AB (students would come Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). ○ Wednesday would continue to be a remote learning day for all scholars. ii. Considerations for Students who receive IEP services a. Traditional IEPs o Receive pull-out services for a small group setting in “office hours”, in a supervised space, all additional services will be given remotely. o RSP services can be pull-out, in-person services, in the building. Small groups to be established with ISBE/CDC guidelines. iii. The High School student instructional day shall be no more than five and one-quarter (5.25) hours of synchronous instruction (scheduled direct instruction) inclusive of 5-minute transition time between classes. Notwithstanding the preceding, the Learning Center shall operate up to 6.5 hours daily to align with staggered student schedules. iv. The Parties agree that the workday for High School Instructional Teaching Staff during the Hybrid Learning Period shall be as follows: a. Up to 960 minutes of instructional duties, weekly, not including Wednesdays. Of that time, up to 760 minutes, weekly, not including Wednesdays, will be dedicated to scheduled direct instructional (synchronous) time, which may include time during instructional periods for teacher-directed student work. Up to fifty (50) minutes per day will be dedicated to scheduled support of instruction (e.g., advisory, strategic scheduling of scholars for support allowing for drop-ins, conferencing or tiered supportive instruction, individual or group data driven support) (synchronous). The instructional duties per day will be inclusive of 5 minutes of transition time between classes, unless the PSC determines otherwise. On Wednesdays, 185 minutes of instructional duties will be dedicated to scheduled direct instructional (synchronous) time, which may include time during instructional periods for teacher-directed student work. Such positions will not be posted until all teachers are assigned. 1. The above vacancies shall be posted online and via school email to all staff. 2. Positions as described above shall be posted at least ten (10) business days prior to being permanently filled, unless the vacancy occurs and is posted within ten (10) business days of the first official teacher work day of the school year. In that case, the posting period will be five (5) business days. 3. Any employee may apply for such positions by submitting a written letter to the Superintendent's Office. 4. After the last instructional day of the year, the Board shall post vacancies at the Superintendent’s Office. An employee with a request for a transfer on file under D. below or who has requested summer vacancy notices under C. below will be notified. B. As it relates to individual employees who are not regulated by the Teacher Tenure Act, an employee desiring to learn of position vacancies that occur during the summer shall leave self-addressed, stamped envelopes in the Personnel Office. Application for and filling of such summer vacancies shall follow the procedures in B. above. C. As it relates to individual employees who are not regulated by the Teacher Tenure Act, a request by an employee for transfer to a different building or position may be made at any time. Such request shall be made in writing to the Personnel Office with a copy to the Association President. The application shall set forth the school, grade or position sought, and the applicant's qualifications. Such request shall be reviewed twice each year to assure active consideration by the Board. In the event an employee is granted a transfer, the record of the transfer and any pertinent information related to the transfer shall be placed into the employee’s personnel file. No employee will be discriminated against because of a request to transfer.
