Extended Occasional Teacher definition

Extended Occasional Teacher means an Occasional Teacher who is employed for a period of twelve (12) or more consecutive instructional days as a replacement for one teacher employed on a permanent or probationary basis.
Extended Occasional Teacher effective September I, shall mean an Occasional Teacher who is employed for fourteen (14) or more consecutive instructional days as a replacement for one teacher employed on a permanent or probationary basis. Effective September I, the fourteen (14) days become thirteen (13) days; Effective September the thirteen (13) days become twelve (12) days.
Extended Occasional Teacher means a teacher who is assigned as a substitute teacher for a period of twelve (12) or more teaching days in the same teaching assignment, or a Casual Occasional Teacher who accumulates twelve (12) or more consecutive teaching days in one position. 45.2.1 An Extended Occasional Teacher, hired to replace an absent regular teacher for a specified period, properly qualified for such position, may not be replaced by another Occasional Teacher prior to the return of the regular teacher unless it is by mutual agreement of the Extended Occasional Teacher and the Board, except in cases of removal for disciplinary reasons. 45.2.2 In the event that the assignment of the Extended Occasional Teacher is to be terminated prior to the originally scheduled termination date, the Extended Occasional Teacher will be given five teaching days notice, unless the termination is due to disciplinary action by the Board. 45.2.3 The assignments of Extended Occasional Teachers employed for less than a full semester shall be continuous to the end of the semester assuming that the specific teachers who are absent and being replaced do not return to duties by that date. 45.2.4 In the second semester of a school year (i.e. February to June) where the school year calendar, as approved by the Board and the Ministry of Education and Training, provides for a Professional Activity Day at the end of the semester, the assignments of Extended Occasional Teachers, who are not entitled to receive retroactive contracts, will include the Professional Activity Day where the teacher will be continuing in the same assignment the following September or where, at his/her discretion, the Principal determines that it is necessary.

Examples of Extended Occasional Teacher in a sentence

  • It is understood and agreed that the salary of the Extended Occasional Teacher includes vacation and statutory holidays.

  • An Extended Occasional Teacher shall be placed on the Durham Elementary Teachers' Salary Grid with the recognized teaching experience and category placement in accordance with Section 11.06 of this Agreement, on the twenty-first (21st) consecutive and uninterrupted instructional day worked in one (1) position.

  • A full-time Extended Occasional Teacher shall be entitled to two (2) days paid sick leave per month, cumulative for the duration of the extended occasional teaching assignment.

  • Previous contract teaching experience in Ontario or equivalent as well as previous occasional teaching experience recognized by the predecessor Boards shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing an Extended Occasional Teacher on the Secondary Teachers' Salary Grid.

Extended Occasional Teacher means an Occasional Teacher who is required to teach under Section for a period of ten (IO) or more consecutive teaching days in the same assignment. An interruption in the assignment due to sickness, bereavement leave or a professional activity day shall not interrupt the continuance of the assignment. Probationary Occasional Teacher Effective September a probationary Occasional Teacher means an Occasional Teacher who shall be on probation for one year and until such time as two satisfactory performance appraisals have been completed by a Principal or Vice-Principal and filed in the Occasional Teacher’s personnel file. The probationary period of an Occasional Teacher without two satisfactory performance appraisals will be extended until the two performance appraisals have been completed or for another school year whichever comes first. All Occasional Teachers currently on the Occasional Teacher List and hired prior to September will be considered permanent Occasional Teachers.
