School Year Calendar. 6.1. The work year for teachers and all other certificated personnel who do not have extended year assignments shall be 180 teaching days, two (2) work days, one (1) institute day, and three (3) staff development days.
6.1.1. Teacher work days are primarily for the purpose for completing grading and other end-of-the- semester activities such as checking out. Barring emergencies, no required meetings shall be scheduled on these days.
6.2. The work year for counselors and psychologists shall be 193 service days, which include three (3) staff development days, noted in 6.1 above. The supervisor(s) for the school counselors and school psychologists shall meet with each employee on or before June 1 to schedule the dates to be worked beyond the 186-day school calendar for the upcoming school year.
6.3. Days or time served on extra assignments (such as summer school) shall not be counted as part of the teacher’s work year.
6.4. The Association and the District shall meet prior to January 10 of each school year to mutually agree regarding the calendar for the following school year and a tentative calendar for the subsequent year.
School Year Calendar. PERPETUAL CALENDAR GUIDELINES
1. School will begin for students as determined by the Board of Education.
2. Winter Recess will be scheduled based upon the following:
a. If Christmas and New Years Day falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, winter recess will begin the Monday preceding Christmas.
b. If Christmas and New Years Day falls on a Monday through Thursday, winter recess will begin at the end of the school day the Friday preceding Christmas.
c. Length of the winter recess will be two weeks.
3. Spring recess will be scheduled based upon the following: Spring recess will be the first week in April, Sunday being the first day of the week. In any year that Good Friday falls during that week, an additional vacation day will be scheduled for the following Monday. The following calendars are tentative pending adoption by at least six (6) of the local School district within the VBISD.
4. VBISD Center Programs may set two (2) winter break days to fall between the winter and spring recess. These days will be used to make up Act of God days if needed. Decision to use one (1) or both of these days as Act of God makeup days will be made by February 15. The Van Buren Technology Center will adopt a winter break schedule if six (6) or more
School Year Calendar. The Board further recognizes that the Association shall have, upon its request, input into the development of the school calendar provided such request can be considered timely in respect to other unit bargaining agreements or negotiations in progress.
School Year Calendar. The Federation shall have the right to designate a representative from its respective bargaining units to serve on the District’s calendar committee to assist in the development of the school year calendar.
School Year Calendar. The Superintendent will propose calendar options with input from various constituency groups. The Union will present these options to its membership, survey the membership and provide input to the Superintendent for consideration.
School Year Calendar. The Superintendent has the authority to create and recommend a school year calendar to the Board of Education. The Superintendent shall create an ad hoc committee for the purposes of exploring new calendar options. This committee will consist of representatives of all stakeholders and at least three, but no more than five, PEA members appointed by the PEA president. The committee will cease to exist upon their recommendation to the Superintendent.
School Year Calendar. The District shall adopt a perpetual calendar that projects out holidays, breaks and other District days. See Exhibit F. If the District finds a need to amend the perpetual calendar, other than for emergency purposes such as snow days, the Union will be consulted before any changes are made in the calendar.
School Year Calendar. A. For the term of this Agreement, the 2024-2025, 2025-2026, 2026-2027 school year calendars, when established, shall become a part of this Agreement.
School Year Calendar. The school year calendar of the LCTC shall include not more than one hundred eighty-five (185) instructor employment days, including five (5) emergency days. If it is not necessary to utilize any such emergency days for an emergency, the unused days shall be declared days on which instructors shall not be required to be present. The Board may schedule no more than one (1) additional day beyond the school term as a required instructor attendance day. This additional day may only be used to require instructors to attend the Tech Campus student awards night; bargaining unit members will be released at 3:00 p.m. on awards night with no loss of pay or benefits.
School Year Calendar. 9.1 Calendar Committee Composition There shall be a joint District and Association Calendar Committee consisting of the Superintendent or designee and bargaining unit members appointed by the Association.
