Hiring process means such activities as interviews, performance tests, written tests, role plays, simulations, reference and background checks, as well as the use of any other instrument or procedure designed to assess fairly and objectively a candidate's qualifications to be successful in the position the appointing power is hiring to fill.

Temporary personnel provided shall meet the minimum qualifications, education, and experience required by the classification specification for the job to be performed. These screenings may include, as appropriate, physical examinations, background checks, credit ratings, drug screens, and verification of special licensing and certifications at no additional cost to the City. If applicable, Agency will provide the City’s Designated Department representative(s) with a copy of the potential employee’s valid driver’s license prior to placement with the City. Background Checks: Agency shall conduct background checks, which will minimally include: Broadscreen Criminal & Sex Offender Registry Search, Social Security Check and Motor Vehicle Report and employment reference checks for selected temporary personnel within a reasonable time frame prior to assignment start date. All Agencies shall adhere to federal, state and privacy protection laws when conducting background checks and provide the required waivers, authorizations, notices, disclosures and releases. If the Agency uses an outside company to conduct background checks, the Agency shall only use registered, licensed investigators. The Agency will share copies of these items with the City’s Human Resource Department with redacted Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
