An absence due to Personal Illness. Injury of a driver shall be compensable to the extent of hours accumulated in the employee's Personal Leave Bank. A certificate of inability to work by reason of illness from a licensed doctor of medicine, examination by the Health Officer or other physician designated by the Board, and such other evidence of illness and inability to work as the Board may deem necessary may be required as evidence of the illness before compensation for the period of illness is allowed. The first two (2) sick days annually are unpaid, pending the terms established in the attached Memo of Understanding.

An absence due to Personal Illness. Injury of an employee shall be compensable to the extent of the number of days accumulated in the employee's Personal Leave Bank. A certificate of inability to work by reason of illness from a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy, examination by the Health Officer or other physician designated by the School Board, and such other evidence of illness and inability to work as the School Board may deem necessary may be required as evidence of the illness. Any absence of three or more days due to personal illness or injury may require a written statement from a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy stating the employee is fit to return to work. Personal illness time shall not be used for routine doctor and dentist appointments. Sick leave pay will not be allowed for injuries or illness connected with outside employment. Sick leave pay will also not be allowed for injuries or illness connected with volunteer work for governmental agencies when those agencies provide either compensation or compensation insurance for those heretofore mentioned injuries or illnesses.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice.
