The "Assignment to a Higher Classification" clause defines the process and conditions under which an employee may be temporarily assigned to perform duties of a higher-level position. Assignment to a Higher Classification. A unit member who is assigned or promoted to a classification with a higher salary range shall be placed at the step in the new salary range, which represents an increase of at least five percent (5%), but in no event higher than the last step of the range.
