Assignment to a Higher Classification. 19.5.1 A unit member who is permanently assigned to a higher classification shall be placed at the salary rate indicated on the salary schedule for the new classification that is the next highest dollar amount to the unit member’s current salary.

Assignment to a Higher Classification. A unit member who is assigned or promoted to a classification with a higher salary range shall be placed at the step in the new salary range, which represents an increase of at least five percent (5%), but in no event higher than the last step of the range.
