BILINGUALISM. 46.01 The Employer shall notify the employee and/or the Union that a position has been designated bilingual (i.e. present incumbent, vacant position and newly created position) eighteen (18) months in advance for the purpose of review and consultation with the Union.
BILINGUALISM. 19.1 The University is committed to the fulfillment of its role as a bilingual institution of higher learning. The Employer and the Association pledge themselves to the maintenance and promotion of the English and French languages (hereinafter referred to as “official languages”).
BILINGUALISM. 3.50.1 Although Thorneloe is a unilingual Anglophone institution, it is member a of a federation where both official languages are spoken. The University and the Faculty Association recognize the importance of maintaining and promoting both the English and the French languages and cultures. Accordingly, bilingualism among Faculty is desirable.
BILINGUALISM. A employee incumbent in a position designated as may retain that position, provided he undertakes language training to meet the requirements of the bilingual position, within a period of up to six (6)months. An employee may, at his own option, choose to transfer to another position in order to assist in the filling of this position with a person who better meets the revised qualifications, subject to the Employer’s approval. Employees, other than employees assigned duties of translation and interpretation in their job descriptions, who are required by the Employer to use two (2) or more of the official languages or official aboriginal languages of the Northwest Territories on a regular basis shall receive a bilingual bonus of one thousand two hundred dollars ($1,200.00) per annum, to be paid An employee may be required to provide satisfactory proof of bilingualism. Eligible casual employees shall receive bilingual bonus at the rate of sixty-two cents ($0.62) per hour for hours worked.
BILINGUALISM. G – 1 The Employer shall post bilingual training opportunities following the posting procedures outlined in Article 13.01.

The Employer and the Union pledge themselves to the maintenance and promotion of both official languages, French and English, as well as both cultures. Notwithstanding the above, the Employer and the Union acknowledge the distinct role and the important contribution of Aboriginal languages and cultures in particular programs at Laurentian University. Further, the Employer and the Union recognize that in the University as a whole Aboriginal faculty are underrepresented and agree as per Article

BILINGUALISM. The parties agree that there are currently positions in the bargaining unit where bilingualism is a mandatory requirement. The parties further agree that there may be additional positions where bilingualism would be a requirement of the job. If the creation of such a position is contemplated, the parties will meet, and, if they agree that the job reasonably requires bilingual capabilities, then the position would reflect that requirement. The union agrees that it will not unreasonably withhold its agreement to any bilingual requirement. In the event there are internal applicants, that parties agree to dialogue at a JUMC meeting on the educational opportunities available for such applicants who may need to upgrade their bilingual (French) skills required for the aforementioned bilingual position.
