BOOKS AND TUITION. After completing the probationary period, an employee who takes a class approved by the Police Chief through a college or university approved by the Chief shall be eligible for sixty percent (60%) reimbursement of tuition and books required within thirty (30) days of submitting proof of payment in full. Limit: University of Washington tuition schedule. Upon successful completion of such class, the employee shall receive the remaining forty percent (40%) for a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher, twenty percent (20%) for a GPA of 2.5 or greater but less than 3.0, and zero percent (0%) for a GPA of 2.0 (or equivalent). The employee shall promptly reimburse the City for tuition and books if the employee receives lower than a 2.0 grade in the class. Classes graded exclusively on a “pass-fail” basis will be reimbursed 100% for a “pass” and “0%” for a “fail” provided, however, that these classes will be specifically approved by the Chief of Police prior to enrollment. This provision shall apply to the GPA for both quarter and semester enrollment.

BOOKS AND TUITION. Any courses which are required by the City shall be paid in full. Employees may request compensation for the cost of college level course work relevant to their role in the City. Tuition reimbursement is subject to the following guidelines: 1. Requests must be made in writing to the Department Head using the form provided by the City’s Human Resources Office prior to enrollment or participation. 2. Reimbursement shall be made only if a grade of “C” or better is received, or a “P” if the class is graded on a Pass/No Pass basis. Documentation is required. 3. The maximum amount payable per course is two hundred dollars ($200) including books. Receipts must be provided. 4. College level course work directly relating to the employees current position may be compensated at one hundred percent (100%) within the designated maximum. The City must determine the coursework will benefit the City. 5. College level course work may be compensated at less than one hundred percent (100%) if it is indirectly related to the employee’s position. The decision to reimburse a percentage of the costs rests with the Department Head. The City must determine the coursework will benefit the City.
BOOKS AND TUITION. Bargaining unit members shall be reimbursed, up to $2,000 per year for tuition and books after completion of courses while in the employ of Hospital, provided that the taking of the courses shall have first been approved in writing by the appropriate manager, and evidence of achieving a passing grade shall have been provided by the bargaining unit member. Requests for reimbursement will not be unreasonably denied.

BOOKS AND TUITION. A police officer or sergeant who takes an approved class through a college or university approved by the Chief of Police will be eligible for reimbursement of tuition and books required upon proof of payment. Upon completion of the course the employee must provide proof that a grade of 2.0 or higher was earned. If the grade is less than 2.0 the employee must immediately reimburse the City for all funds received for that course via payroll deduction. Classes graded exclusively on a “pass-fail” basis will be eligible for reimbursement of required tuition and books upon proof of payment. If a “fail” grade is received the employee must immediately reimburse the City for all funds received for that course via payroll deduction. “Pass or fail” courses will be specifically approved by the Chief of Police prior to enrollment. Limit: University of Washington tuition schedule (for schools operating on a semester schedule, one semester is equivalent to two quarters at UW).
