Police Chief. An employee who is not satisfied with the reply at Step 1 of the Grievance Procedure shall file a written grievance on the form provided, with the Police Chief (or designee). The grievant may use a Labor Council representative. If he does so choose to involve the Labor Council, then the Labor Council shall investigate the grievance before proceeding to the next step. A waiver form must be presented by the grievant at this step.
Police Chief. The employee(s) who has an alleged grievance shall file a grievance in writing, using a form jointly developed by the parties, with the employee's Police Chief. The grievance form will be signed by the employee. The Police Chief shall meet with a member of the Official Grievance Committee within five (5) working days after the written grievance has been filed. It shall be the responsibility of the Police Chief to investigate the allegations and provide the grievant and if necessary, the Officer in Charge and/or other Officer(s) of the Department with his written answer to the grievance within five (5) working days after the meeting. The grievant(s) will attend this Step of the grievance procedure when so authorized by the local Union grievance committee. The Police Chief may also call the employee's immediate supervisor to attend this meeting.
Police Chief. In the event the grievance is not settled in Step 2, a meeting shall be held between the Union and the Police Chief and one other City representative within ten (10) days excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays after conclusion of the Step 2 meeting. The decision of the Chief of Police shall be given in writing within five (5) days of the end of the meeting (excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays), unless the time is extended by mutual agreement.
Police Chief. If the grievance is not resolved in Step II, the grievant may submit a written grievance to the Police Chief within ten (10) working days of receiving the Step II response. The written grievance shall contain the following information:
Police Chief. If the grievance is not settled at Step 2, the Guild shall have fourteen (14) calendar days from the response of the Director to submit the grievance to the Police Chief. The parties understand that, on City-wide issues, the response may be from the Human Resources Director.
Police Chief. 1. If the grievance is not resolved in Step 1 and the grievant wishes to proceed to Step 2, he or she shall present the written grievance form, the Supervisor's informal response, and any other pertinent documents, to the Chief within seven (7) of the grievant's working days from the receipt of the Step 1 response from the supervisor. The Chief shall date the grievance form, accurately showing the date the Chief's office received the form, and investigate the grievance.
2. Within ten (10) working days of his or her receipt of the grievance form, the Chief shall schedule and conduct a meeting to discuss the grievance with the Grievance Chair. The Chief may reconvene this meeting if he or she needs additional information or documentation regarding the grievance.
3. The Grievance Chair may bring to the meeting the grievant, and such others that are directly involved in the grievance or grievance procedure. The City shall not incur any overtime expense as a result of this provision. A Lodge Representative may also attend this meeting.
4. Within ten (10) working days from the date of the final meeting, the Chief shall submit to the grievant and the Grievance Chair a written response to the grievance. A Lodge grievance may be presented in writing by the Grievance Chair or alternate to the Chief. Said grievance should be filed within seven (7) calendar days after the grievance is made known to the Grievance Chair or his or her alternate.
Police Chief. If the grievance is not resolved at Step One, the Union shall submit it to the Police Chief within ten (10) calendar days following receipt of an answer from the Division Commander, or, if an answer is not received, the date on which it was due. The Police Chief has ten (10) calendars days from the date of submission to answer the grievance.
Police Chief. If the grievance is not resolved in Step 1, the grievant may, within fourteen (14) calendar days from receipt of the Division Commander's answer, forward the grievance to the Police Chief for consideration. Answer to the grievance shall be made in writing by the Police Chief, after conferring with the grievant, within ten (10) calendar days from receipt of the grievance.
Police Chief. A Union member having a grievance will reduce it to writing and present the written grievance to the Chief of the Police Department within ten (10) days of the incident giving rise to the grievance, or within ten (10) days after the member first learned of the incident (not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of the action or event). The Chief or appropriate designee, shall discuss the grievance with the Union member and respond to the grievance within ten (10) days.
Police Chief. If the grievance has not been settled at Step 1, it shall be presented in writing by the Union President to the Chief of Police within seven (7) working days after the Deputy Police Chief’s response has been given or is due, whichever is later. The Chief shall meet with and respond to the Union President, as appropriate, in writing within five (5) working days of receipt of the written grievance.
