The state and the Union agree that with the advent of online information regarding career opportunities within the Selected Exempt Service, employees have access to information regarding career opportunities. An employee who believes he is qualified for a posted position will be provided an opportunity to submit an application for a career opportunity. The employee shall receive an acknowledgement of receipt of his application.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. 469. The SFMTA agrees to participate, on behalf of service critical employees at the SFMTA, as part of the Career Opportunities Program when such a program is established by the City.

Any business opportunities related to the business of the Company and its affiliates which become known to the Employee during his/her employment with the Company must be fully disclosed and made available to the Company by the Employee. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES a. The Agency continues to develop housing opportunities and service programs for low-income families. Information about the development of these new programs, services, and resulting employment opportunities shall be made available to employees by posting the information on Agency bulletin boards. Employees are encouraged to seek detailed information regarding these employment opportunities from the program developer or administrator.
b. Employees may consider using options such as cross-training or sabbatical leave to prepare for new or promotional employment opportunities. These options may be utilized under the terms of this agreement and the Agency's Personnel Rules and procedures.
c. The Agency will make a good faith effort, consistent with operational requirements, to accommodate an employee's request for cross-training or sabbatical leave to enable the employee to enhance his/her skills in his/ her current position or to move to a different position within the Agency. Employees may make written requests for cross-training to the Deputy Director. Such requests will include relevant qualifications, education, and the reasons they are interested in the position. Denied requests may be appealed to the Executive Director, whose decision is final and not grievable. When the Agency has advance notice of a vacancy, it will notify the employees if there is a possibility of a cross-training opportunity.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. When deemed appropriate, BDO will advertise positions at grades below their full-performance grade level to enhance career opportunities. Additionally, where practicable, the BDO will use interest announcements for detail assignments. All vacancies should be evaluated to determine if they are suitable to be filled as upward mobility positions, or suitable to be filled at less than full performance level positions.
