Cleaning of Buses. Drivers shall not be required to clean or wash buses, except the employees shall sweep and pick up debris inside buses. Each driver will identify to the Director of Transportation a specific time of day when he/she will clean his or her bus. Notification will be given within two working days after any signup. The District and union agree to the following as it relates to the position of Bus Washer: 1. The position will be an 8-hour employee and a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local No. 381. 2. There will be only one seniority list for the drivers, including the bus washer. 3. The position will be offered to the drivers. It will not be re-bid unless there is a vacancy in the position. If no bids are received upon a transfer from the position, the least senior driver will be placed into the position. 4. The bus washer may drive charters after his regular 8-hour shift and on weekends after all other drivers have refused or are unavailable. 5. The bus washer may drive routes in an emergency situation. However, if the bus washer is used, the District will notify the union in writing on a monthly basis of the route that was driven and the nature of the emergency.

Cleaning of Buses. 1. With the advance approval of the Transportation Supervisor, a driver may wash the outside of the bus to which he or she is assigned. The driver will complete a Bus Washing Form and submit it to the Transportation Supervisor for approval. Upon the bus passing inspection by the Transportation Supervisor, the driver will be paid two hours of pay at the driver’s regular rate of pay. 2. At the end of each school year, if drivers are required to clean the interiors of their buses, they will receive two hours of pay upon submission of appropriate documentation and the bus passing inspection by the Transportation Supervisor.

Cleaning of Buses. Drivers are responsible for sweeping and cleaning the bus after each day or event trip. The transportation director will monitor compliance with this regulation and report to the district administration the times when drivers other than regular bus drivers leave vans and/or buses after event trips without cleaning them.
Cleaning of Buses. Contractor’s cleaning responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: • Removing all litter prior to bus delivery to the shuttle bus operators. • Washing the exterior of each bus, including its wheels, at least [three (3) times] a week, unless a less frequent cleaning schedule is approved by the Executive Director. • Cleaning all windows inside and out as well as all window xxxxx at least [three (3) times] a week. • Removing gum and stains from the floor and seats at least [three (3) times] a week. • Wet mopping and drying the floor at least [three (3) times] a week. • Spot cleaning and damp wiping seats, walls, baggage racks and handrails at least three (3) times a week. • Cleaning the dashboard at least [three (3) times] a week. • Vacuuming carpeted areas at least [three (3) times] a week. • Steam cleaning the engine, wheels and undercarriage on an as needed basis. • Polishing exterior and interior surfaces on an as needed basis. • Washing seats, interior walls and ceiling panels on an as needed basis. • Shampooing carpeted areas on an as needed basis. • Disassembling and cleaning interior lights on an as needed basis. • Scrubbing and polishing floor and entrance steps on an as needed basis. • Treating rubber gasket materials with a protective agent on an as needed basis. • Treating interior of buses on a monthly basis with non-aromatic treatments to prevent any unwanted insects or animals. LAWA reserves the right to modify and/or determine when any of such cleaning activities should be performed in order to achieve the highest level of cleanliness and vehicle appearance.
Cleaning of Buses. A $100 penalty will be assessed for each instance that the interior and/or exterior of a bus appears, in the sole discretion of LAWA, to have not been cleaned in more than four (4) days.

Bus drivers shall have up to three weeks after the school year is over (last instructional day) to complete the cleaning task. While bus drivers are strongly encouraged to clean his/her own bus, he/she may decline. All buses that are left to be cleaned will be offered to the two (2) top- seniored bus drivers and continue down the seniority list until a custodial assistant(s) can be found. It is understood that up to six (6) hours will be allotted to clean a single bus. If two (2) drivers decide to clean a bus, each driver will receive up to three (3) hour of pay.

The Board will offer the regular drivers the option of cleaning their buses in preparation for the annual inspection at a compensation rate of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) which will be paid upon approval of transportation supervisor. 2. The driver must notify the Board by May 15th of his/her intent. Cleaning of buses must be completed before June 30.
